The dark ages are coming

Sadly my early morning walks that I enjoyed at 4am or even earlier this summer, are sadly drawing to an end this year.  For the last 5 or 6 weeks my morning walk has been getting later and later, and today I didn’t really get out until 5:20am.
It’s not because I can’t get out of bed, or I’m becoming lazy.  It’s because the mornings are drawing in, its dark and overcast, and I don’t really want to walk in the pitch dark, I can do that any evening.

I want to see a glimpse of the sunrise, enjoy the early morning chorus, look across the fields, and enjoy a little solitude.  That hint of day light helps me see where I’m putting my feet, especially now the farmers are ploughing and preparing the soil for the next crop.
Only last week I stumbled into a furrow that I didn’t see in the gloom, and ended up with mud on my hands and knees.  Annoying at the time, but it’s funny now, as I think of me naked wallowing in the mud.

At 4am in the height of summer I can easily wander naked across the main A roads in my area without a problem.  But at 5:30am the world has started to get busy, and just crossing the road involves covering up and waiting at the road side while looking for a safe gap to cross, as the traffic thunders by at breakneck speed.

I’m not a fan of the cold winter days or dark winter evenings, and they’re all creeping up very quickly.  I’m afraid my naturist activities are inside only, once the temperature drops below 7c, unless we get one of those rare mild winter days where the temperature rises to a sensible level.

Yes this is a grumble, and Louise isn’t helping either, buy telling me the guys coming to service the central heating boiler tomorrow, and she just ordered logs and Calor gas for the winter.
I think I’ll hibernate until next spring.

There’s Something Therapeutic About Being Naked

I agree its always sad when the winter is coming and the days are so short, I too enjoy some basic naked activities early morning i.e. walking the dog up the country lane knowing the probability of any car coming at 4am is very slim indeed - but at 5:30 / 6am the traffic (we don't get much) but people do start to move around especially the farmers.

That said - on clear nights with a full moon its still light enough to see. Also even when the temperature is below zero in the day, if the sun is out and there isn't any wind - its still pleasant to be naked outside (no sun and wind - things drop off!).

I tend to start walking at 7:30 every morning.  I dont mind the cold down to minus 2c. On the plus side,  there are fewer people around.

Throughout the Summer, where we live I managed most mornings to be out by 6.15 and walk about half a mile up the track to the main road (if that is what it could be called) without anyone about.  Now, over the last few weeks, it doesnt get light until about an hour later, and I either cant be bothered or have to go to work then, so think my early morning jaunts are now something for next year and not this.  Shame, as sort of set me up for the day and was so relaxing (whilst listening for Tractors) wearing nothing but a pair of trainers.

Carry on and challenge yourself.  See how long you can go on for.  Be bold,  start cold.

There's nothing like walking naked in the snow. With boots of course

I’m with you on this sunnydays. Despite my fur-like covering I don’t have the constitution of a naked sub-zero warrior and my extremities get painful below 6C.

That said this weekend is looking good. The forecast near me is for 11C at 6.30am.

When I first sw=aw the title of this thread, I  thought it was going to be about the increasing prudification of society. In which case the dark ages are not only coming, they have arrived - and they're getting worse.

God give me patience ... but I want it NOW!!My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/steveteb/videos

Except that we have no evidence of such prudery during the period of out history known as the dark ages. In fact all the available evidence is that nude bathing and other nakedness was the norm.

The dark ages are so called since there was little written following the demise of the Roman occupation so no one really knows just what was going on! Pot fragments and bones don't give a full story - people could have been running around naked all the time or executed if they were naked - we just don't know.
