My old reference book, "Free Sun" says there is an unofficial naturist beach at Hengistbury Head, just along the coast from me.
It's described as being on the west facing side of the Head, just before the headland.
Does anyone use the beach and know exactly where the naturist section begins and ends.
Thanks, TS.
BN guide says "Low smoothed rocks above the high tide level, and shingle below. Naturist area is directly below the rock outcrop." What's the old Phil Vallack book say ? I guess it also depends if there's anyone else around at the time 🙂
The naturist beach west from Taddiford Gap seems to have fared badly this winter due to high tides and mud slides, I wonder if users will migrate east or west a few hundred metres? Have you ever seen naturists on the bit of beach west of the old sewage outfall? Personally I'd prefer to move east towards Hordle but use a windbreak so as not to offend any cliff top walkers.
Thanks for BN guide info. Just checked with "Free Sun" and Hengistbury Head is not actually listed?? Perhaps must have read something on the BN site?
This map is from the naturist heaven website
Perhaps will have to meet up and cycle over sometime when it's warmer and others will be there to ask.
Never seen naturists west of the sewage outfall. by the way, so no one worries about sewage, the sewage works closed down and was redeveloped as a housing estate some years ago. More and more naturists simply choose a spot between the western end of Milford beach and Taddiford Gap. Especially couples, so as to avoid the male dominated naturist beach section.
Last year a creapy guy kept turning up and choosing a spot close to a lady naturist and driving her off the beach. Actually saw this twice myself. There are few enough female naturists at Taddiford as it is without this sort of guy spoiling things.
When I took the trouble to drive over to Studland the scene was so different. Loads of couples, loads of new naturists judging by their lack of tans, and a very healthy scene.
Taddiford used to have lots of couples years ago (1980's) but seems just a few couples these days. Even as yet another single married naturist I prefer just swimming west of Milford nowadays.

It's just been on the Southern region ITV news that our local area has 3 of the best beaches in Europe.
One is Hengistbury Head, which as we are discussing has a naturist section, second one is Studland probably the best naturist beach in the UK and the third beach is Swanage.
Lucky us. Find it hard to believe though.

Hi, I have used Hengistbury Head once or twice, I had to cover up because of the people coming or going from the beach huts on the head. I don`t know if it is a naturist beach or not,but Iwas on my own.
On the subject of Taddiford, I tend to go to the left when I get on the beach from the carpark on the Barton/Milford road.I have found a nice little spot just out of sight of the cliff walkers, and away from the...shall we say male end of the beach towards Barton. Very often I`m on my own just about all day,the odd beach walker but not like a cue of people walking by, and if its people that you may think would be offended its easy to cover up as they go by. I have had lots of nice chats to people that are walking on the beach, and very often, all it takes is a smile and a good morning/afternoon, lovely day,and you find that they don`t mind you being naked at all! Live and let live! Hope to meet some of the Taddiford regulars this summer. Guy. Tad.b.b.
Hi Taddiford. I've just had a look at the map you posted, does the arrow represent the best place to go in general for naturists or the best place to go for couples. regards Gav
Sorry, I know Taddiford and Hordle Cliffs very well, but my post about Hengistbury Head is to try to learn more about exactly where the naturist section is, and yes which bit is best. Hopefully someone will come along who uses Hengistbury and can help us.

I think the naturist beach at Taddiford gets narrower every year - what do other users think?
I've been visiting on and off since the late eighties - a couple of weeks ago I was struggling to see more than a handful of places where someone could lay down comfortably. This must be partly due to removal of the concrete jetty where the outfall used to be. Perhaps it will end up like east of Chewton Bunny where there's no beach at all at high tide.
Will be checking out Hengistbury over the summer, though. Haven't been that way for twenty years.
I've just come back from a 'bracing' walk at Hengistbury Head this morning. Two degrees when I parked the car - not bad for April :- and understandably, very few folk around. Looking at the shore and comparing to the 'naturist heaven' website map, I don't think the naturist area could be anywhere other than as indicated. No sign of any 'flat rocks' as mentioned in the old Free Sun guidebook, although cliff falls may have buried them. May be worth an evening visit for a skinny dip in summer though.
