Since I now live in Newborough (as of October 2017), Newborough Beach is very much my local. I've seen various suggestions that it has an 'unofficial' nudist section, though accounts vary as to where this is. Certainly there is some local objection to nudity on the beaches at all, so I cannot really approach my neighbours for more information!
From the main car park, some suggest turning left towards the Menai end, while others suggest turning right, passing Llanddwyn Island to where the beach heads towards Malltraeth.
Any information you lot might have would be greatly appreciated, whether it be through experience or from personal confrontation with the natives.
If there is ever a petition for making the beach an official nude spot, my signature will be at the top. It can do nothing but improve the local economy if nothing else!
May Bank Holiday 2018, throwing caution to the wind, and seeing there was nobody in sight at all in either direction from my vantage point just in front of the dunes on the Malltraeth side of Llanddwyn, I spent a happy hour on the Saturday evening lying nude in the sun. One couple appeared at one point, walking along the waterline some 100yds away, so I put on shorts until they had passed.
I've never seen anyone naked there at all, so I'm not sure if I might now be the only one.
I think so long as one is sensible, mindful of others sensibilities (no matter how irrational we might think they are), there can be no harm done and consternation caused.
This is why I like these evening excursions when it is almost guaranteed that one won't get caught.
My wife has yet to join me - she's a member of various local groups, including the church, so is a bit wary of being spotted perhaps.
It would be nice to arrange a discrete meet do you think?
I visited the beach a couple of years ago and sunbathed naked in what sounds like the same area you were in.
You mention about making the beach an official nude spot but the new policing guide-lines state 'There is no legal power to designate particular areas or otherwise'. Which could be interpreted as meaning there is no such thing as an 'official beach'
Hi ChrisS
I read that too, but if there IS an official designation, then there can be warning signs erected, and the public is forewarned and able to take avoiding action to prevent their sensitivities being bruised.
I interpreted the guide-lines as meaning that an official designation is unnecessary, since there is nothing illegal about practicing naturism - but it must surely be helpful if there IS, and there is nothing to say that you cannot have an official designation.
