South cost of Portugal near Tavira is good (near Spanish boarder), there is an island spit there you can only get to by boat or a small train, the one end (West) by the small train is the nudist area. Unlike Albaferia its quite unknown to tourists - more natural Portugal - good restaurants and you can get quite cheap private villa's with pool there - so you can be nude all the time  :D.

Well to update on what happened after my question.....just booked a week in Riu Palace Maspalomas Hotel, Gran Canaria, Playa Del Ingles... Starting 10th -17th May.....  Looks nice spec place, right on the edge of the dunes, so can walk through them to the beach I guess/hope....
Are the dunes "safe" no pervs hanging out ?
We leave just before the Gay Pride event starts.......So hopefully fairly quiet.

UK2SK, we stayed in Playa Del Ingles last year we didn't stay in the Rui but walked past it ,it does look a nice place and it is in a great position for the nudist beach . The dunes have a reputation and no doubt things go on  but we walked through them the one day back to our hotel in early July and never witnessed a thing .

The local police have clamped down on the various activities (of a sexual variety) in the dunes during the last couple of years. And in fact, you are likely to be asked to get dressed if you are seen just walking through them naked.

Last year we stayed in an apartment in Playa del Ingles that had a naturist roof terrace overlooking the dunes. We could see the police patrolling regularly. And we know of people who have been instructed to get dressed when walking through them.

Nudity is now strictly only allowed on the beach in the designated areas by the sea. There is one large nudist zone on the Maspalomas side of the peninsula and another on the Playa del Ingles side.

Having said all that, it is still a great location with plenty of space to strip-off and enjoy the sun and the sea as nature intended. Very different vibe to Fuerte however.

It's the island of choice for us during mid-winter December to early March, because I have a hunch it has the best and warmest weather of all the Canaries at that time of year. And a great selection of hotels and apartments with dedicated naturist terraces too, which can be handy if it's blowing on the beach.

I would expect it to be quite hot in May - certainly was when we went in April some years ago.

Hope you have a great trip.

Thanks for the feedback and info.... shame about the dunes, looked like a great walk....
Are the beaches signed posted, or do people just work it out by what others are doing?
Out hotel says it has a Spa facility which hopefully is naturist....

It's a long time since I've been to the Maspalomas-side naturist beach and I don't think it had a sign then, but that could have changed. The nude zone on the Playa del Ingles side does have signs. Firstly, there are some by the main textile access to the beach telling you how far the naturist area is with an arrow pointing in the correct direction, and then there are more signs when you arrive.

I don't think you'll have any difficulty identifying where to go bare. And there are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent  if you want them. There have always been hundreds of naturists when we've visited. Worth mentioning, there is also a constant stream of textiles walking in each direction along the water's edge.
