Shame we don't have a beach in Sheffield.
Although I don't think skinny dipping in the Don is much fun anymore

Vault beach is a very pleasant place, not too far too walk, friendly too.
Have used Polgaver on many occasions, however, in recent years there are very few naturists there, and I hear occasionally patrolled by the site security who request clothing to be worn.
Downderry is also meant to be good, I have yet to try, hoping to this coming summer.

Well as I've not visited any others yet but it's already been mentioned above. Crackington Haven is just stunning (though only for the fit and able). The only down side for me is that is was so quiet when I when, there was hardly anyone to talk to. Hope it will be a bit more social in the main season.

Carlyon bay used to be wonderful, Cornwalls only official nudist beach at one time, have frequentent since the mid 80's but as you say Herts, Polgaver now gets the vote for this area of the county.

Downderry is very nice, bit of a trek but well worth it, mainly naturist with few textiles thrown in for good measure

Vault beach on the south Cornwall coast is lovely and rarely crowded. Drive into Gorran Haven and take a sharp right up the single track road (Lamledra Hill) to the National Trust car park at the top. From there its a 15 minute walk with a stunning vista of the bay down to the beach. The far end is always pure naturist with plenty of rocky alcoves to make yourself a den. The naturist end has a large cliff which provides excellent wind protection from anything except a southerly/easterly breeze. There are no facilities whatsoever so be self-sufficient, this of course means most regular tourists stay clear, which suits us just fine.

Use to go to Carlyon Bay @ St.Austell until they started fencing parts of the beach off for building work,so not been down there for a couple of years!
Vault beach @ Gorran Haven is a favourite of my gf & myself!
As others have said its not too busy & clothing area is @ the beginning of the beach with naturist area @ the far end!

Oh almost forgot Fishermans Cove that's on the Hayle to Porthreath road, just before you get to Hells Mouth!
It is a very steep climb down so not for the faint hearted, but very beautiful little beach makes it well worth it's! Plus very quite.
