Contrary to some recent reports, we had a lovely time at Holkham last week.
The only other naturist we noticed was a guy sat in the dunes - directly above the sign that asks people to refrain from using that part of the beach naked. Being less militant or possibly more literate we headed out to the open sands, and despite a cool northerly were able to find an area about 100 yards from the shore where the sand contoured in such a way to provide natural shelter and make the best of the sunshine. Apart from a few dogwalkers, we were alone, so it was very peaceful, and a far different experience from the last couple when we did feel pestered by the wrong sort. Sure it was late in the season, and the forecast said only 18C (felt warmer though) so it was bound to be quiet, however, and I almost hesitate to say this, whatever the perception of how the estate is managing the beach these days, it was the best time we've had there in years - not one uncomfortable moment.
Being the only naturists there does have potential to make some feel vulnerable, but that's long worn off for us these days, and while walking in the shallows the people who passed by were not the least bit bothered, one chap only worried about/needing directions for where he could rejoin the coastal path.
We've never used the dunes, we knew what they were like, so I suppose we don't miss them.
It really was a lovely day.
My first real nudist experience was at Holkham, near Wells. I was told by a stress counsellor that nudism might help me to relax. Didn't think he knew what he was on about.
Went out on my motorbike, ended up stopping for ice cream and saw the signs for the nudist beach. Decided that l might as well at least give it a try.
So l did. Everyone was naked, nobody seemed to notice. It was SO liberating. Absolutely wonderful. Families, older, kids, nobody cared. Absolute paradise and not even remotely sexual. Just so natural. I have been to beaches since and one two occasions had sexual contact but it's just not about that. It's the most relaxing environment possible. Need to de-stress? Undress....
I don't really know the Norfolk Coast, but I'd like to go and see the common seals in summer, while combining it with a trip to Holkham Beach. Does any-one know if you can see seals at Holkham, or how far along the coast you have to go to go seal watching?
I would recommend a boat trip from Morston for serious seal observation. We went with Bean's boat trips and it is well worth an hour of your time. We saw loads. Not sure where they are near Holkham. They were at at Horsey just along from Winterton beach further along nearer Great Yarmouth.

Blakeney Point can be excellent for seals, although it's a good three mile walk along the beach which across sand and shingle is a looong three miles. Seen a National Trust bod there sometimes with viewing scope for the seals as it's a good basking spot for them even in summer. Nesting terns and other things along the way too.
Elsewhere the seals can pop up almost anywhere, seen them in the shallows at Holkham many time, they properly meerkat you from the wate, which is hard to mind when it's them doing it.

Yes it's a cracking trip. Even the weather was kind. They are hilarious to see. They don't seem to want to do very much in life but they look cute doing it. That was two years ago, may do a repeat run this year.

I love that saying Need to de-stress Undress I think I will use that in the future. Thank you. 😉

You will not be able to do it at Holcombe in Norfolk has there is no such place. It is Holkham. Car park entrance for the beach opposite the entrance for Holkham Hall the last time we went. You then have to have a good walk along the beach. With a wheelchair it is impossible.
[admin]Thanks for pointing out the wrong name for this beach; it has been corrected.[/admin]
They do have boarding there now for wheelchair access - not been there for a while, but thinking about doing so this weekend. I don't know if the nudist beach part would be, probably not.
Just find a quiet spot somewhere on the beach and go naked. Don't bother walking miles to get to 'the nudist' part. I gave up doing that at Morfa Dyffryn last year and no-one said anything.

I gonna say this is potentially not super great advice given how the estate was a fraction away from trying to get rid of naturism altogether from the beach. I wouldn't want to invite reasons for them to try to do it again.
I see it’s a while since anyone posted in Holkham thread. We go when ever we get chance, prefer an official beach than non official to avoid offending anyone and ending up in trouble.
We love Holkham although it’s pricey at £9 for the day. Very tempting to try down the road as suggested here.
We have not encountered any issues at Holkham from being on our own to a quite busy day there. Yes a few males floating around sun bathing etc but never been an issue.
Horse riders don’t bat an eye lid but walkers tend to have a sneaky peak. Why not we love people watching too, dressed or not.
If anyone’s going drop us a line if we’re there we are happy to say Hello.
We might get brave and wonder down the road?

Wow...£9 for all day parking....that's gone up. Have they built that visitor centre yet?

Yes! I've forgotten some years, but certainly all-day was 5.50 in 2012, 6.50 in 2015 and 2016 and 7.00 in 2017.
5.50 to 9.00 in 7 years I make 7.3% per year, just a bit above inflation!
