We have been using Leysdown/Shellness beach for a very long time, no big signs in the old days. The layer of mud on the sand at low tide is relatively new, it was all soft soggy sand with shellfish, cockles etc. just beneath the surface. Things may change and the mud wash away in time. The beach could do with a good clean up, some people leave litter and I have found broken glass there at times from where someone has perhaps changed there windows in a local chalet. But still the beach is convenient, easy to get to and car parking fairly close. Just take your daily food and drink rations, windbreak can be helpful and the sand is generally cleaner than the dunes area. Pity it isn't longer, only 200/250 yards.

I went on friday the 13th this month and it was fairly busy so i couldnt get my normal area so went to the far end away from leysfown. What a mistake . There was a male nydist in a beach tent and in the two hours i was there he must of had around ten other male nudist visit him. I got up to go for a walk and saw that he was ....,well you know masturbating the other men, and they werent hiding the fact.
This has put me of going to leysdown now , i would prefer to use a beach which is more mixed......i had a feeling about leysdown last year that it 'felt' abit seedy, now i know it is .....its a shame because its easy to get to but i think thats its down fall, as men turn up in their cars walk over strip of , visit the tent , than go back to the car and  go . Its put me of being a naturist to be honest and i can see why clubs arent keen on single men.

Sorry to hear that. I went to Leysdown for many years prior to moving to Devon in 2014. I can't say that I never noticed anything happening there, but it was rare to see anything balent. Maybe I just don't look for it so dont see it. The left side, looking out to sea is probably the better end. Hope this guy in the tent is not a fixture, maybe someone - or a group - could have a gentle word about beach etiquette, we don't need a beach closed due to wrong behaviour.

I normally go on the left side as you look at the sea ! ........going by the amount of blokes that went to the tent i would say he is a fixture .........i wasnt looking for any thing but when you have men circling waiting for their turn , i just looked over to see what was going on , i wished i hadnt looked . I will think long and hard before i go back , i dont want to go to that sort of beach .

that has to have been organised - probably on social media - if you could find the site/ post it could be stopped simply by posting that you've reported it to police
finding it would be difficult though - & no doubt involve you trawling sites you don't want to see

or, in a loud voice, on the phone "hello police? I want to report obscene behaviour on the beach at Leysdown....[keep up the conversation] .....ok, you'll be here in 10 minutes? Thanks I will wait by the car-park" [get up to go but watch out for the stampede]

I really should have been born on a tropical island

It's a difficult situation I know. Reporting to the authorities is one course of action but risks getting the whole beach shut down. It would be a pitty if this behaviour drove all the real naturists away and left just the doggers to take it over. There used to be a number of regulars on the beach, one would hope collectivley they could tell this chap that he and his tent activities are not welcome. Wish you luck. Keith

I might venture down there and/or Sandwich next week as the sun is supposed to be making an appearance 🙂

Well I hope the weather is fine for you. Please keep us updated if you choose to use Leysdown. With the recent adverse postings we cannot let such a convient beach be spoiled.

Why didn't you report him to the police?

I was there this afternoon - nothing seedy, but the ratio of men to women is very very high!! (i.e. 4 women, about 30 men?!)

Quite often the case, but not just at Leysdown, the ratio of men to women tends to be higher on most clothing optional beaches.  Shame but there we are.  Might be a bit more equal once the kids break up.  More families during the six weeks.  More rain too.

Oh Steve, I envy you.  The weather looks like it should stay fair.  We are bogged down a bit with family functions this weekend and have to go visiting. :-
