Can anyone advise the status of Theddlethorpe Beach ?. Me and my wife have spent many happy hours walking and sunbathing at this beach; about ten years ago , before her parents moved in land. We have heard that the Police have been called on many occasion recently as the council have deemed this a non Naturist beach. Would love to visit again next year , but are unsure now ? If anyone can advise please ? TIA
Which council are you referring to and how recently? Lincolnshire County Council, East Lindsey District Council or Theddlethorpe Parish Council, all of which have jurisdiction over that part of the coast. Generally, complaints of this type would initially be brought up at parish level. Unfortunately, Theddlethorpe Parish Council are rather lax in publishing their minutes, the last available being for June this year, despite having held another four meetings since - see http://parishes.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Theddlethorpe/section.asp?catId=16180. It might be worth keeping an eye on their minutes for any developments. Using the search facility on the East Lindsey District Council site fails to bring up any reference to 'naturism' or 'naked' from their minutes.
The following press article may be relevant: https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-news/naked-men-popping-up-like-1883920
A highly inflammatory headlight from August this year designed to stoke up a prudish outrage, undoubtedly, as the 'meerkats' inhabit the much quieter Theddlethorpe dunes and not central Mablethorpe as might be initially inferred. Their activities are nothing to do with naturism or a 'nudist colony' in the area. As the article points out, and as Gildo has already said above, no offence is committed by being naked - but engaging in sexual activities is another matter. As long as you cannot be seen to be associated in any way with their shenanigans, by keeping a good distance away (especially out of the dunes), you should be reasonably safe from any police 'roundup.' Weather permitting next summer, I will be visiting.
I am quite local ad use the beach and dunes a few times a year (live in the country in remote location so don't need to go to the beach to get ride of those pesky clothes) go there for sea swimming and just normal beach 'stuff' - the dog loves it.
So depending on where you go - it is over 26 miles of beach, but just north of Theddlethorpe they have now introduced signs restricting horses - mainly because the sand is too soft. As with many places if you are considerate to others and well away from the family areas normally there will not be any issues - I've never had any in the 4-5 years of going there and being naked on the beach / swimming / walking etc. But all have been away from the main areas people use.
Why people get more upset if their children see naked people I don't understand - but that is a separate issue.
The part of the beach I used was north of the Churchill lane car park. I spent a few weekends there and spent my entire time naked. The beach is large enough to be far enough away from anyone, unless 'they' choose to be near you. I had no problems and actually experienced positive attitude from a couple of elderly gentlemen who I encountered and had a brief chat about naturism, whilst walking back to the car (I was wearing shorts). There were a few other naturists about, including on one day, a 'Sleaford swim' group outing!
As Gildo rightly states, all crown authority beaches are now clothing optional. The ones to avoid, are those which have a reputation for lewd behaviour, many of which are traditional naturist beaches!
I carry a copy of the police guidance and the CPS guidance and also BN article 'Major breakthrough' (see British Naturism website) which highlights the changes and clarifications made this year. (2018) There is enough documentation there to convince anyone, including authorities of your lawful nakedness! I keep it in a plastic wallet in my beach bag (just in case)
I will definitely be returning next summer!

Hi. There is no such thing as a non-naturist beach because public nudity is not illegal. But did you know that all beaches in the Waveney council area are open to naturism due to some bye law. Some of these beaches are well worth a try.
It's a great little area. Sometimes there are a few ignorant oiks walking dogs who get rather sniffy about nudity and create a fuss so I tend to relax in the dunes (away from the meerkats) and get some lovely naked time. That was I am slightly hidden when these people appear but it is still obvious I'm naked. The grass hides the important little places so they don't make a fuss. Often seen one older guy though who just tells them where to go if they don't like it. Good for him, I say.
The meerkats tend to occupy the upper sections of the dunes. Sometimes you get visits from some care worker facility or other to these sections (I saw them last year) handing out condoms!! Don't know what they hope to be doing but they are usually all single males. Well, ok I DO know but hey.
Be nice to get some families there to boost the popularity and remove the idea that this is a rather sandy gay bar....
Has anyone visited here in the recent good weather?
It’s probably my closest beach so I might have to give it a go if we get some good weather in the next couple of weeks.
Same here.i was thinking of visiting..any info on it..thanks
I have commented previously, but will again - rather than going to the dune area where many other people would use - enter the beach further up on the entrance north Theddlethorpe just as you leave on the corner. Go to the beach and walk to the sea (long way) heading left at 45' very rare anyone goes that far along and since its a long way from anyone else I've never had any issues with being nude there.

I commented earlier too but just to add to the above by JMNude, I found the best area of this huge beach is accessed from the Churchill Lane car park. Walk along the sandy path from the car park on to the beach and you are there. It is a huge beach and provides a lovely opportunity for a naked walk to the sea and lots of places to sunbath.
I wouldn't recommend the dunes a little further south. There are obviously 'goings on' there which give naturism a bad name, so best avoided.

- I gave this place a try today and there were plenty of naturist here enjoying the blue skies and miles of beach. I'll be back!
Surprised you state there were plenty of naturists at the beach, I've never seen any all the times I've been there, which part of the beach did you go too?
I parked on Churchill Lane but had to walk about 3 miles South before I came across a large group in the dunes. It was all very civilised and friendly in that area, as well as being sheltered from the wind. I was particularly impressed when a mother and daughter wandered into the area and a chap suggested we should cover up. You here a lot about meerkats in this sort of environment but really people were just walking around chatting and nothing sexual.
@briyork - that explains it I don't go that way since there are a lot more people that way, I normally just set-up near the sea, way to the left of the access point from Church Lane past the no horse riding area - never seen anyone there and normally people just go straight or to the right. I more of a lone nudist.
Yes, that sounds great. When I go to an area for the first time I usually like to pitch up near fellow naturists just for the feeling of safety in numbers until I get to know a place. It's a little too breezy for me today but I hope to explore more over the next few weeks.
The tide goes out a very long way exposing a huge expanse of damp sand and when it comes in it reaches or almost reaches the dunes. So it's probably not best to go when the tide is well on it's way in. On a recent visit I sat on the edge of the dunes a couple of hundred metres or so to the right of the Churchill Lane entrance. A few people wandered by but did not seem concerned by my nudity. I walked naked across the sands to the sea with no one around but when I got to the water a few textile people were walking along the water's edge.
