I use a source image as a reference to produce brushstroke effects. I use a wide variety of digital art software, palates and techniques to apply the actual brush strokes. I have to apply each and every stroke by hand, using a mouse, which takes time but gives it a distinct texture and uniqueness. So although it's not a physical painting, it's still been painted entirely by hand. It's taken me a while to get the hang of producing dramatic life studies, but I'm pleased with the results.

Same over here: I could have sworn it were "real handbrushed paintings". Nice software but nice work as well because technology means nothing without talent (and a lot of patience as well ;))
I am generally very anti-Apple but i have to say that my wife has recently got an I-Pad pro with the I-pencil and I'm impressed. She claims it to be the nearest thing to painting on paper there is. That too allows the layering of a photo so you can "paint" on top but being a pencil and not a mouse gives a lot more freedom and control. (so she says - I'm not an artist)
