I was recently at an event to see my 4yr old grandchild.  The instruction was given "make sure that you only photograph your own child."  What absolute bosh!"  My daughter is very proud of her son's achievement, and rightly so.  A picture of him isolated from his peers would not show the all important context of the event.

How is it that we have managed to get ourselves into the ridiculous situation?  Now I suppose that there might be some stupid people that can get a buzz out of seeing a picture of a fully clothed 4yr old strutting his stuff among other fully clothed children but I can't see it. 

As far as the naturist setting is concerned.  My daughter was raised in a naturist environment and her family is also naturist.  I take the grandchildren with me to the Sleaford Swim.  Photographing naturist children should follow the same conventions as for adults.  There is nothing wrong with taking their pictures as long as it is within the family or with parental permission. 

It is time that the hysterical minority were given their matching orders.  I have the feeling that child abuse is probably no worse now that it always has been; the difference is the over sensational reporting in the media.  We now have to situation where people will walk away from a distressed child for fear of being accused of something antisocial. 

Slightly off topic but a personal experience.  My late wife and I, both qualified first aiders, were driving along a country road when we turned a corner and found a young girl who had been thrown from her pony, in the road.  I stopped the car and went to the girl to ask if she was ok.  At that moment another car came round the corner and the female driver ripped into me.  The girl told me it was her aunt.  Now I could accept that the woman was concerned for her niece's safety, but then so was I.  If she had approached me with less fury and ascertained what my motives were, it would have been much more reasonable.  She didn't even stop to consider that my wife was there with me.
