Hi, new to this so sorry if I am repeating a question. Is there anywhere in the Gloucestershire or surrounding counties, (England or Wales), suitable for 2 "novices" to go walking naked with no danger of being seen (apart from by other naturists of course).

I can't answer for Gloucestershire, but I think the best policy is to scout out possible walks while clothed.

I personally find woodland walks the best, as even if there someone about you can duck into the undergrowth quickly to put a pair of shorts on.

The more familiar you become with the terrain, the more confident you will feel to take your clothes off, as you will get a good idea of how often that area is frequented and how far away you can be spotted from.

Given that SOC have walks in Surrey, I would be surprised if you couldn't devise any in Gloucestershire. I would suggest getting an O.S Landranger map to identify the likely areas, such as woodland and open country away from car parks and villages. You could then as has been suggested, scout out those areas whilst clothed. I'd suggest that you take something that you can use for a quick cover up, if you do encounter anybody, say either a pair of shorts or a sarong.

I think most places near you are fairly popular for walking but if you do find any suitable spots please let me know!

Bargain wood near Bream on Coleford to Lydney rd b4231, Get yourself an OS map and do a recce walk. Its okay after 10 & before 4 pm after dog walkers leave. But no guarantee given. Try it. Park up in forest access gate just outside Bream on lydney side heading south.
Listen out for three fellas oh meant tree fellers.    Couldn't resist.
Weekdays obviously.

Also woods close to urban areas are likely to have more dog walkers.

Larger woods are better than smaller as there is more space to get lost in, and even if there are other users, they are not likely to be in the same part as you at the same time. Even in popular woods it may be possible to find parts that people rarely if ever visit.

I've found it useful to look at an area using google earth. You can overlay the 50,000 OS Landranger maps by downloading Gavin Brocks overlay kmz file which you can find here

By using this combination you can identify the public paths and see the terrain. You can fade the maps to see both.

Good luck

If anyone reads H&E and has the July 2014 issue, you'll see me on top of Leckhampton Hill....the shocked face is because textiles were approaching me, but luckily didn't see me and walked away.
It's risky to walk around there naked, but I've found one spot where you can chill with an amazing view!

There was a brilliant website that had locations around Gloucestershire where you can strip off and walk or just out and one location that stands out is Mallards Pike in The Forest of Dean.
If anyone fancies meeting up for a walk, let me know, it'd be great to go on a walk with others.

I'm in Cheltenham too and I've got some ideas for naked walk venues when the weather warms up a bit.

Carole has been looking for any walks in Gloucestershire for a long while now but yet to find anywhere apart from a short walk on the Canal near Sharpness but again need to keep an eye out for textile walkers
