I don't think hiding is the right thing to do if someone meets you as your out walking although having said that and from my own experiences it does take a bit of gumption to hold your own and carry on as if nothing is amiss, which of course it isn't really.
I think my biggest issue is bumping into someone I know socially although this has happened in the past with out much of a fuss.
I'm not sure why I feel like this as generally I don't care what people think of me and I do my own thing.
My cunning plan for my first walk is to wear a lightweight kilt then I can just whip it on/off that's the plan anyway 😀
I had a great 13 mile naked walk with a male and female friend in Sherwood Forest yesterday. met a few people who were all very envious and wished they could do what we were doing but just couldn't bring themselves to. Sad. We also met another naturist while out, its getting to be a common occurrence. I will be walking naked the rest of the week and am thinking about a 10 mile naked group walk in Sherwood Forest at the week end. Is anyone interested and if so which day is preferred Saturday or Sunday.
I've just returned myself, was a bit chilly in the open today. Warm in the sun though. Only met two cyclists today, one yesterday and a walker that past pleasantries about the weather nothing unto ward was said. I'm out most evenings now.
Another nice 10.5 mile walk in Sherwood Forest today. I only saw 3 people, one was Graham Underwood a naturist on his bike with his clothes on, shock horror. another was a cyclist who passed me then stopped to chat for a while. Then I said hello to a farmer ploughing his field, he just happened to pull up along side me.There was a cool wind at times but otherwise very pleasant.
Tried Sherwood for the first time earlier this week. It's actually an area I know tremendously well, but never done naked before. As I still potentially have an interest in working/volunteering in the NNR itself and I figure my first impressions with their people should probably involve clothes, I stayed to an area west of the boundary. It was absolutely lovely, especially in this weather we're getting, and it meant exploring paths I've never done before, finding habitats I'd not known about. I find that's one of the nice things about our pursuit, being more encouraged to go to out of the way places makes for discoveries otherwise missed. I probably did about 2 1/2 miles before I had to head home and get some things done.
A few people passed. Initially I was a little nervous because as I arrived and prepared to undress a a woman and I presume her teenage daughter came around the corner. As soon as they were well into the distance, and it had been quiet for a time, I figured I should go for it and I took my stuff off. After that a few old boys on bicycles shared 'good mornings' with me, and despite an initial gasp of surprise from them, a small group of female walkers shared similar greetings. I did hear them giggling a shortly after I passed them - which I suppose at leasts suggests something opposite to distress. Oh, and there was an older lady with her dog who replied pleasantly enough to my hello. So, not completely quiet, despite it being mid-morning on a weekday.
I kept a pair of shorts handy in my bag, but they were more there for my own protection than other peoples, in the event I didn't need them.
Tempted to go out again later this week. However, it's just tricky. My job means I have a certain profile with a lot of people interested in the forest, so I rather depend on not being recognised (and misunderstood). Another reason I envy those of you who are retired, and don't have that to worry about that stuff.
Nearby is Sherwood Pines, somewhat a less sensitive place for me, has anyone given that a go?
trouble with Sherwood pines that it is specifically set up for cyclists with various routes through the forest, I used to go up there on my bike and it was always quite busy. If you were to venture further south and towards Rainworth from Sherwood pines the paths are much quieter.
I personally walk Sherwood Forest most evenings now and to be honest I rarely see anyone, the odd cyclist now and then but no one takes much notice, the chances of you seeing someone connected to your business is slim, I did used to worry about meeting someone I know as I live in the village and I'm part of the social scene but lately I'm just not bothered I have on two occasions met one of the local pubs bar men out on his bike, he just shouts hello Gary as he passes and has never spoke of our meetings in the pub.
The area around Budby and Meden Vale is usually quite.
I've been going to Budby fairly regularly over the last couple of weeks at varying times depending on work and other things, ranging from 3pm-8pm and have barely seen anyone. I think I've been seen at a distance by a couple of people and I saw a runner coming towards me the other evening so put my shorts on, he was fairly close when I did so quite probably saw I was nude but carried on straight past and ignored me. I tend to keep off the main bridleway sections as much as possible, that's where I met the runner and have seen others at a distance, but I am feeling more and more confident if I did meet someone.
There are few on here that walk in Sherwood Forest but I have never met another while out. Just shows the odds of bumping into some one.
Had a good 11.5 mile walk today in Sherwood Forest didn't see anyone.
There is going to be a naked walk on Sunday and 15 people and a journalist will be on it to highlight the benefits that can be experienced through naturism.
I have heard on the grapevine that a woman jogger was upset in Sherwood Forest when she came upon a male playing with himself. The police were informed so this has raised tensions a little. be very careful how you conduct yourself when walking. If anyone knows anything about this please let me know,
Wasn't me...
Good, wasn't me either. I am not assuming it was anyone on here it could have been anyone.
Wasn't me either.
One of the reasons I've taken to going walking at Sherwood a couple of time a week, even though it's a good half hour drive each way for me, is the positive experiences everyone has shared here with mostly friendly reactions from the public, ad the enlightened attitudes of some of the RSPB, local police etc. It would be a terrible shame for one idiot to ruin things for the genuine naturists.
Good, if you would like some company on one of your walks in Sherwood Forest just let me know, I would be happy to join you.
Sounds good, I'll let you know when I'm likely to be going.
I usually go for about an hours walk around late afternoon/ evening time when I'm home from work, can be anywhere from 5 to 7.30 when I get to Sherwood. Tuesday is probably the next chance I'll get, after that I'm off on holiday for a couple of weeks.
