I’ve spent the last half an hour reading this thread with great interest. Gildo - you are an absolute legend - I admire your confidence and your determination to promote naturism in your area, you appear to have done a wonderful job.

I’ve taken my first tentative steps into naked walking recently, but I still can’t shake off the fear of meeting textiles and how they may react, so I’m sticking to deserted places at quiet times of the day and always keeping my shorts on hand to whip on at a moments notice, which does detract from the liberating experience somewhat.  I take so much inspiration from your stories and hopefully eventually I will overcome my fear!

Keep fighting the good fight!

Thank you I will and in time you will also feel more confident if you keep on trying.

Had a lovely 7 mile naked walk today in Sherwood Forest with 11 other Naturists. the weather was perfect there were very few people around but we stopped and chatted to those we did meet. Everyone was very friendly and asked lots of questions about naturism. A really nice group of men on the walk, it would have been nice to have a few women to talk to as well. Perhaps next time.

Here is a link to the walk which I started just after we had set off so the start point does not match the end point.

I went for a 9 mile naked walk in Sherwood Forest this afternoon after leaving all of my clothes except for the sandals I was wearing in the car. There were very few people about. However after walking a couple of miles I could hear voices behind me. It was two women on horses wearing what looked like police uniforms. I just carried on walking at the same pace. They caught up with me and said hello and asked me if I was alright. I greeted them back and asked them the same question and by then I could see that they were not police women. They walked along side me on their horses for about half a mile chatting away like old friends. I used to ride so I was able to talk the them about horses as it was obvious I did not need to talk to them about my state of dress or lack of it. A little further on and I met an elderly couple who just smiled and said hello. I also me a guy who politely asked me if I minded if he asked me a question. He wanted to know why I walked naked and what it was like. I spent quite some time talking to him and he was really interested and thanked me profusely for talking to him and giving him such a good explanation. I did suggest that the best way for him to find out wound be to try it but he declined as he said he couldn't afford to discover he liked it because he was very fair skinned. I just love it when people engage with me like this.

I was one of those walking with Gildo yesterday. I agree with David that it was a really good group of guys. We need to do it again sometime. Perhaps a regular, monthly?, event? Thanks to David for the introduction to SF. I'm sure I'd have got lost without him!

I really enjoyed it too. It is a shame that it is such a long drive for me. The trip North was great and only took 2 hours but getting home after was a different issue! It took nearly three and a half hours as the M1 had been closed. I would probably not make it every month but would certainly like to do it again if it could be a Thursday and 11.00 start as it was this time.

I would have considered joining Thursday's walk had I not been at work, hence my little joke about not being retired however, I was out later on Thursday evening for 2 and a half hours and coincidentally walked much of the same route the group had done earlier.
The forest was quiet, thunder was rumbling in the sky above, it was raining lightly, I was totally alone and in ore of the beauty of the place.
My concerns are that on a group walk this would not be the experience, the company and chatter would detract from the beauty of the place for me.
I consider myself to be a bit of a loner and being alone is part of the buzz for me.
I may consider a group walk at some point for the experience maybe.

I've found that I'm not quite brave enough to fly solo, although did so earlier this year when no one turned up! I covered up at any risk! Always think that encountering a lone naked male is perceived in the wrong way. It was great walking with so many as we were always in the majority when meeting and to not have to cover up was a big bonus.

Well done to all the chaps doing the walk. Sounds like you had a great time.

Been out again this evening and got absolutely soaked. The dog looks like a drowned rat and I discovered the joys of naked driving, couldn't see the point of getting dressed when I was soaked.
Quite refreshing though.

It sounds as though a course in weather forecasting might be in order 🙂
A couple of people commented that the noise made by the group chatting probably detracted from seeing the wildlife as they would have run a mile. I think the comment is valid and that there are therefore two types of experience - one the joy of having good company, and two, having the total peace and quite and the benefit of getting to see more wildlife.
I am rather like Peter in this respect though which is that I am far braver in a group than on my own for the reasons that Peter states.

My weather forecasting isn't great I agree, was quite nice in a way though I walk this area most days alone, except for my little spaniel Roo. I regularly see an array of wildlife and enjoy the peace and quiet, especially after a days work.
I understand your comments regarding a lone male walking naked but having done so for the last 5 years or so I am yet to have a problem. Recently I have spoken with those I see regularly and received positive responses.
I know Gildo walks this area alone and it is thanks to his efforts that makes it far easier for me to do the same.

Think it's thanks to you guys that walk SF and to Gildo for working with the authorities that perhaps even I would feel ok out alone down there. Where we walk, it tends to be different areas of Yorkshire so not encountering familiar faces etc. Will work on my bravado!

Hi

Would there be any chance of a walk at weekends?

I'm sure there are plenty of us younger generation that would love to do it but work.

Weekends are the only viable option for me at least.

Great that these happen at all though.

If you're a couple in the Midlands and are under 50...say hi.

How about this Saturday or Sunday. Have a look at the weather forecast first though before you reply. Just for information there is a naturist swim at Edwinstowe on Saturday 19.30.
