Anyone know what the young woman is doing on the South Common? Seems to be planting little red flags in various locations.
I've seen her three times now, was going to go and ask but she pretends not to see me as I walk past so thought better of it.
Another glorious evening today, late afternoon seems to be the best of the weather lately.
Maybe she is hoping that with a little rain and a bit of fertilizer they will turn into big red flags?
Only happy when naked

I'd guess she's identifying and marking a certain species of flora.

His she marking where dog owners have not cleaned up after their dogs.
No not enough flags.
All gone yesterday. And no sign of any special vegetation, just heather and bracken
On the way back from my hols I made a detour to Budby forest south and indeed partook of the *cough* "recommend" naturism. Hey when in Rome and all that ;-). Not that I needed persuation, but the more genuine (ie non-perv) naked people that get seen then probably the better for normalising the situation and persuading RSPB it's not causing problems. That said, didn't bump into anyone, but probably got seen from adjacent paths a few times.
What a wonderful location. Nice nature too.
I've just returned from a 2 hour walk and how beautiful it was. Not seen a soul, yesterday was the same, apart from a glimpse of Gildo as he crossed the cattle grid onto the service road on the way back to his car.
I must say without the cows the common is a far better place swaithes of pink tipped grass blowing in the breeze is almost poetic, few days ago I sat and watched plumes of pollen as the wind took it away,, almost smoke like.glad I don't suffer from hay fever . Very few people about this week and the sun has been great in the evenings.
Last weekend I was down Taunton for a few days, found a nice quiet walk which ran alongside the M5 for a while..Found my self on the race course, and I mean in the middle of it, put the shorts on for that bit. Very nice country side though.
As it was my first visit to the area, I also took the time to visit the Major Oak (clothed of course once I left the common). I then headed west and crossed over into the non-RSPB land and disrobed once more once a little way into the Forestry Commission bit. Obviously Major Oak had people, but still not large numbers. I saw a couple joggers just as I entered the Forestry Commission wood, and a couple dog walkers after I'd re-entered Budby south again, but no one particularly close.
This was the middle of the day. In my experience dog walkers are peak in the time before work and just after work hours, so surprising you see so few in the evenings.
Yes, we were out there last evening, first time for a bit, and literally past nobody. In the far far distance there may have been a dogwalker and a horse rider but too far to realy see. Incredible really, such a wonderful open area, cannot understand why more people aren't enjoying it naked or not. Saw another lizard too, always a treat in this country.
Would love to be up their today but unfortunately can't be, a warm day with fat summer raindrops seems like another nice way to experience the place.
To hot of late for the dog walkers, I've been without my own a few times this week.
What did you think of our tree?
Out today and the only person I saw was the guy with the dogs I saw w****** in the woods a while back. We both reached the gates at Budby at the same time, walking in opposite directions, I'm sure he recognised me as he was very sheepish and nervously chatty. We passed the time of day and he had lost his third dog, asking me if I'd seen it. Ten minutes later I did see it but it wouldn't come to me. I was hoping to get sight of it's name tag. I know it's name was Horace as he was shouting it when I met him. It ran off in his direction so Imagine it got home okay.
I was hoping to get caught in a shower to cool off, the thunder was rolling all around me, a rainbow was above me but no rain. Another lovely walk in the peace and quiet.
@tribalbrit The Major Oak? Magnificent, although I'm dubious about the claims of Robin Hood using it as a meeting point. If it's 900 to 1100 year old or so, it'd have been just a "normal" aged oak, if not even just a small sapling. Meanwhile there would have been hundreds of more mature landmark trees back then which have been lost since.
However it's still a great tree, as were many of the others I saw. One of the others, not so large but still ancient, got a big hug from me. 🙂
@tribalbrit the last few days have been very spiritual up the hills with the haar restricting visibility to 20-30 yards. To feel the moisture in the clouds as they wrap around you is a wonderful. I am beginning to understand the term skyclad.
For a few minutes, the sun broke through and I was in the right place at the right time to be part of the Brocken Spectre.
Very poor quality photo but gives you an idea of the Brocken Spectre.
Was out Sunday and saw less people than I saw Saturday, which was one.
Got caught in three or four refreshing showers, then the heavens opened. Surprising how far it is over the common when it's lashing down. If I'd taken shelter in one of the water troughs I would have been dryer, certainly couldn't get wetter.
Would have paid good money for a shower on Saturday, not so sure now though. Was still enjoyable really though.
Todays walk was just as quiet. Saw no one till I got back to the car.
I think I have found a product to repel tics. Dog has been wearing the collar for a couple of weeks and no tics seen, she was getting thirty to forty daily before. Was £40 but should last 8 months it claims.
