"I find it hard to believe that a naturist would invite a none naturist to join them"
I would have to disagree. I have invited several people to come with me on a walk. These are male and female, people I have known for a while. All were well aware of my naturism and two females and one male invited themselves on the walk knowing that I would not be clothed. All this week, one of the females will be walking alongside me up the hills.
If naturism is "normal" then this should not be an issue.
@hillwalker
And have you ever been propositioned as you walk naked, minding your own business?
I have no problem inviting people to join me when sat discussing it having a pint. Would I ask a complete stranger while I was out naked? No!
This is the context in which my comment was made.
Ah I see. Sorry I totally misunderstood the context
I find it hard to believe that a naturist would invite a none naturist to join them and I have heard comments before concerning so called recruiting. My opinion is that these are the deviants among us and need to be weeded out.
I was told only the other day of an incident involving a guy behaving indecently. Unfortunately the more popular the area becomes the more deviants will follow.
From what I understood, the naturist 'leader' referred to (for the avoidance of doubt, not Gildo) was sat having a chat with the cyclist. How that discussion was initiated, I do not know. As far as I could judge, the approach was a genuine 'come and join us and give it a try.' I suspect it was in the same vein as anyone might suggest to someone else in a friendly fashion to give their hobby a try be it fishing, badminton or cycling.
I agree that as word gets around this area is frequented by naturists it is quite likely that more deviants will follow which will be a great pity. Our cyclist said the naturist leader had it organised so that his accomplices approached any deviant and warned him off. Let's hope it works.
And who is this leader I wonder?
So do I. The only description I can provide (having seen the back of him at a distance of around 100m) is that he was elderly with grey hair, almost white. From what the cyclist said, he seems to have a reasonable number of followers.
On a positive note, the more naturists about, and the more contact with other people using this area, means that naturism will become more widely accepted.
@simon1000 It was not me but I have warned two people off this week. I threatened one of them that I would be taking a photograph and taking it to the police if I saw them as it was Bret who told me what he has seen and showed me where the guy was. We need to challenge these people if we are going to keep the baddies away. if they think they can get away with it, things will rapidly go downhill.
Hi as regards meeting other people who do not agree with naturism and can be confrontational, i'm not sure on this one but would any of you consider wearing something like a go pro camera.
Obvously any meetings with other naturists the content would not be shared anywhere or is it the case that any photography is not allowed 🤨.
I'm sure an element of self-policing here is the correct way to go for several reasons
- Hopefully, simply approaching these people will send a message out that their behaviour is not tolerated. For one's own safety, I'd recommend more than one naturist being present. A posse is likely to have the desired effect as the so-called leader seems to have at his disposal.
- Merely reporting the baddies to the authorities will not help. Unless evidence of criminality is produced and something that would rapidly identify the miscreant, such as a vehicle reg. no. they will not be interested. Photos of the person ought to do the trick.
- If the baddies are not driven away, members of the wider public may well report them. They will undoubtedly, as many may already do, tar us all but that association will only deepen.
- We do not want the general public driven away and for the area to become known as a den of deviants. If naturism is to be widely accepted, we need to ensure they do not avoid the area and continue to come across naturists on a frequent basis.
- Do we really want plod patrolling the area? Again, tar brushes will probably become evident and I fear an over-enthusiastic copper simply arresting whoever comes into sight first.
Keep up the good work.
"It is not illegal to take photographs or video footage in public places unless it is for criminal or terrorist purposes.
There will be places where you have access as a member of the public, but will have to ask permission or may be prevented altogether from taking images. These could include stately homes, museums, churches, shopping malls, railway stations/airports and council/government buildings.
Members of the public and the media do not need a permit to film or photograph in public places and police have no power to stop them filming or photographing incidents or police personnel.
There is no law preventing people from taking photographs in public."
Both the RSPB land and Forestry England are open to the public and therefore likely to be regarded as public places. Anyone up to mischief cannot therefore, legitamately object to having their photo taken. The same applies to naturists who are photographed by others.
Is it me or is it weird to see a bloke wearing a t shirt but no shorts.?
Weird to me.
I get the point. Because of my underlying health conditions, I will often peel off in stages leaving a top on until I get out of damp and windy weather. If I am wearing a top and I see someone approaching, the top comes off, I would be embarrassed to be part dressed 🙂
It's quite normal in a naturist environment like a club, because the first part of the body to feel cold is the top, but in "the wild" it just suggests pervert/exhibitionist - or a big Winnie the Pooh fan?

I've bumped into that guy a few times recently, he says he does it because sometimes he feels cold and also he finds it's easier to cover up quickly in case he meets anyone - he seems more nervous than most about this. I haven't yet thought of how to explain to him that bottom half only naked means people are probably more likely to be confused about your motives. r
The larger part of me thinks we should be free to wear as much or little as we like, so fair enough to the guy - he seems completely innocent in this, it's just not a great look if it seems like freeing your willy is more important than freeing the rest of you.
