"but perhaps the worst problem is dogs, as they range all over disturbing nesting birds etc. But you put restrictions on dogwalkers at your peril…."

Arnt we now saying all dog owners and dogs are the same, just like some say about naturists.

I pride myself on my dog control and get rattled when told they should be on a lead just because others can not control theirs.

The woman is indeed a volunteer, she is in her 70's. I do know her Christian name but that is all.

If I see David the warden out and about I'll mention it, perhaps others could do the same without issue. I have spoken to him a few times and he seems an approachable bloke.

I do volunteer work at a local nature reserve too, and it's definitely a battle at times.  Not only with the public, but also developers.  I was dismayed to find out that developers can list a local SSSI and nature reserve as "green space" for the purpose of ensuring there is sufficient local places for people to exercise.  One developer even managed to get a permissive path added from a housing estate to the edge of the wood, which promptly created a new unofficial entrance and a nightmare for the owners (Wildlife Trust).

It's insane.  Just because they don't charge to access, people feel it's common land almost.  I can't imagine someone making a new footpath to the edge of a paid-for National Trust manor, just as a means of dumping your problem on someone else.  Makes me really angry.

"Nature reserve" should be a clue - a reserve FOR nature.

Naturists have been walking in Sherwood Forest for decades. I walked there yesterday with another naturist. We almost always get a good response from the public

Just took a look, 89 signatures looks like as far as the petition will get. The thing seems dead, unless anyone has heard any different? Back end of the summer I met a few new guys walking there naked, maybe one benefit of Mr Grumpy's publicity campaign.

Not sure Donna did a great job - the main issues and legal items were addressed and the interviewer was quite sensible - good that the point about what people find offensive was discussed (e.g. as an example in the interview, If I find tattoos offensive, they must be covered up).

Brought up in the interview (and one I tried to discussed in another threat a long time ago) - since its not illegal to be naked in public, and many of us do in gardens, beaches, woods, WNBR etc why not do the shopping naked or fill the car up naked, go to the pub naked etc - I think most of us wouldn't, but why not? (I'm not saying we all should) but why are so many of us happy to be naked in woods, answering the door naked etc and be seen by others but not in other situations?

(Lets ignore the issue that these are private locations so the owner has the right to refuse entry).

(A long time ago the Local Tesco's did have a CO evening every Thursday, and several local pubs had CO nights) - not now.

The reason we can't do it is because we don't do it. It is currently unusual and the police will almost certainly turn up. They will say to check if you have any mental or other issues and are concerned for your safety. The trouble is it is going to mean that some poor souls are going to have to go through a lot of inconvenience before it can no longer be unusual and there are not enough naturists who are willing to go through the mill to get there. There is one guy who lives in the peak district or the lake district who does regularly go to the shops naked and he has not had many issues and it seems he is increasing the number of shops he is welcome in while naked. So it is possible if enough of us are willing to make it so.
