Here are the arrangements for the walk there are about 15 naturists who have shown an interest so far. Meet at the Alders pub at the Ollerton roundabout just before 12 noon on the 16th July so we can all go in and get as many tables as we can close together for anyone who would like something to eat before the walk. For anybody that does not want to eat before the walk we need to meet in The Alders car park at 1:45 PM and you can follow me in your cars to the parking space in the forest. The walk will be 6 to 8 miles depending on how far you want to walk and will take approximately three hours. Afterwards you can also go to the naturistswim at South Forest at 7:30.

Again sounds brilliant but we've booked to go to Telford that weekend.

Maybe we could come up with a.date for one in August?

Hope everyone who can make it enjoys the day.

If you're a couple in the Midlands and are under 50...say hi.

I had a really good meeting with the police yesterday we talked about naturism in general and about arrangements for the walk. They are very pleased that I have informed them about it and it has been logged with the control room staff so that they are able to inform anyone who may call them that it is just a group of naturists enjoying a naked walk. The warden is going to put  notices up around the site to let people know that they may encounter naturists on Saturday afternoon. I have walked the route naked a few times this week and talked to everyone I have seen to let them know it will be happening, I have not received any adverse comments whatsoever. If you want to join us you are welcome the arrangements are above.

Thank you to the 13 people who joined me today for the meal, walk and swim and the one who missed us on the walk and did his own walk but met up at the swim. I was lovely to have such good company, the weather was just right, not too hot and not to cold, 3 people walked 5 miles and the rest walked 7 miles within the 3 hours. It was very relaxing and reassuring to know the police and warden were aware and to be able to tell the very few people we met that they knew. Several of us went for tea at South Forest leisure Centre before the swim.
Here is a map of the walk for anyone who is interested http://my.viewranger.com/track/details/MzA4NjIzOA

Great that the general public, the police and the weather were all on board so well done to you, and although 13 may seem a small number, it sounds just right to allow everyone to engage with one another.

To pick up another thread, this is a great way to 'extend the boundaries' and who knows perhaps if you keep doing the same walk on the same route it may become the first official approved nude walk route especially since they already have the warning signs up (nudists can be dangerous if startled  🙂 )

"nudists can be dangerous if startled"

JMNude - thanks - I'm going to steal that one and use it whenever I can!

More seriously, I am under the impression that a lot of members of this forum are concerned about "rocking the boat" or doing anything that is aggressive and may turn the public against naturism. I agree that any behaviour that turns the public against us is undesirable and I would not engage in it.

But, this walk just shows what can be done if it is approached sensitively and sensibly.
- David had talked with the warden(s) of the area on many occasions and they are entirely happy.
- David had talked to the police about the lifestyle and they were entirely happy for nude walks in the area and they did not even bother to send any officers to monitor they just let us get on with it.
- David has walked the area many times before and has chatted to the regulars (members of the public) and they were happy.

I occasionally see posts in this forum asking "anyone know where I can walk nude". Well, this was your answer and if you did not turn up then you missed out on a great day.

Thanks David for arranging it.

John

This to me seems like just the sort of thing, we as 'naturists' should be doing more of. There should be no reason why this, and other organised walks, cannot become a normal occurence, and therefore make naturism more of an accepted pass time to the general public. If there are to be more walks around Sherwood Forest, I will certainly be hoping to partake. I could not make it yesterday as I was host to a family barbeque.

LIFE is short, break the RULES. FORGIVE quickly, KISS slowly, LOVE truly, LAUGH uncontrollably, and NEVER REGRET anything that made you smile.

I've posted on this thread before and just wanted to echo everyone's thanks to David.

Hopefully there will be more occasions in the future.

Gildo, (aka Dave)

I live a little north of Grantham and may be able to make a future walk if one happens.  I did find out about this walk in advance via the group on Freerangenaturism.com forum but wasn't available on the day.

I think it's fantastic that you got the wardens and police involved.  It must effectively create an official sanction.  This sort of thing I believe does wonders for the acceptance of naturism and naturists.

How do I keep an eye out for any future events?  I am only an occasional visitor here but of course could increase those to get the info in good time.

Sorry I missed this walk, if you do it again next summer please post details.

Just looking at your route, in Budby Common generally a good area to try out some nude walking? I suppose it is quite open, so you can see anyone approaching and most visitors stay in the forest around the Major Oak anyway.

I walk naked regularly, last week went out for 4 naked walks, between 4 and 6 miles. tempeature was only 4 degrees and there was frost on the ground on one of them. it just happened to be a day when I met the warden and her husband. They were a little surprised that I was able to be naked when they were all wrapped up. If you are not used to it you dont realise how easy it is to stay comfortable just by walking fast enoug to generate the heat you need. My avarage pace at cold temperatures is 4.5 miles per hour. Wind above 10 mph does make you feel cold though. You are right the area can be wide open spaces so that you can see people from a distance, it is also possibe to take routes that are very rarely used by anyone else. I have several walks I can do. When its a little warmer I often walk up to 18 miles.
There will be plently of oportunities for anyone who wants a walk this year. I read the forum most days and as long as I am not abroad enjoying the sunshine it shouldnt be to difficult for anyone to get in touch, I can usually manage a walk with just a few days notice.

Great, thanks. Although it suddenly looks like it might all get a little bit busier in the future....
