Good afternoon,
only the other day Mrs goldi was saying she would like to go back to La Genese. I wonder what the sabliere customers will think about naturists swimming and messing about in the river ?
goldi
Given the continued existence of La Genese and the two lesser naturist sites at this location, I wonder how a textile site would work here.
Absolutely, and this is also goldi's point. In any case La Sablière has already started to take bookings as a naturist resort for next Summer, so the problem will not appear before 2020 at the earliest.
But I'm sure that "where there's a will there's a way", and I am afraid that the long-term interests of La Genèse will not weigh much when opposed to heavyweights such as CapFun.
Once again we see the frailty of the naturist resorts in France; although some of them are quite impressive places, they are mostly independent, often family-owned firms, and weigh next to nothing compared with the major players in the field of tourist accommodation. Remember that even groups such as "France Naturisme 4" are just commercial alliances of independent sites - and, ironically, La Sablière is a member of "France Naturisme 4".
I think the answer to this one lies mainly with the existing customers. If the displaced naturists from La Sabliere book la Genese then it will continue to prosper but is we allow the CapFun to intimidate us then it is entirely our fault.
Do CapFun actually want ot turn La Sabliiere textil? That is another question which needs answering. Is there an adequate textile market for a sitel like Sabliere? I suspect the Ceze gorge sites are only succcessful becaise naturists have been prepared to go to relatively inaccessible places. Are there enough textiles with a similar determination.
The Gran Hotel Natura in Corralejo is now being refurbished as a textile hotel. It had previously failed as a textile hotel before it became a successful naturist hotel, being on the most difficult part of the Grandes Playas which is mainly used only by naturists and separated from the main part of Corralejo by a mile of residential property containing several other failed holiday developments.
If the customers of la Genese do not allow themselves to be intimidated by a textile presence I can see that la Sabliere under CapFum may be de facto at least clothing-optional.

CapFun, which also took over the formerly naturist La Grande Cosse a couple of years ago, has dealt with the naturists there rather ruthlessly.
But a main difference is that, whereas La Grande Cosse had been losing money and never managed to be profitable for years, La Sablière on the contrary is doing very well and is making a nice profit. Perhaps this might bring CapFun to deal with La Sablière differently.
La Sablière is still advertised as a naturist resort for next year. It is very difficult to have access to reliable information, but whoever owns La Sablière now has decided to keep it naturist in 2020. Sigh of relief!

I suspect they might have decided that the potential for hassle from the 1% of militant prudes might not be worth it.
When all 700 emplacements and apartments are full that would be approaching half a dozen a week.
