Downderry is ok - sort of....
You are as well to park in the village and walk down to the beach - turn left for the nuddy bit and keep walking.
It's quite a walk and there are rocks to climb over, plus at high tide you get cut off and cant get off the beach for a while.

I'm back in Plym in August so I'll give it a try, though your 'sort of' sounds ominous!. I heard about the Carbeil park nearby too. Any thoughts? Maybe I can head there for a day too?

I said 'sort of' ok for Downderry, because one trip me and the missus did there turned out dangerous.
We had to wait for the tide to go out so we could walk to the beach over the freshly exposed rocks. The rocks were still quite slippy and my missus slipped and cut her knee, which put a damper on the day.
So watch out for the kelp....
As for the caravan site - no idea - we were just day tripping from a carvan site at Whitsand Bay near Tor Point.

Downderry is great. The council have a sign up tell naturists to keep to the west so they more or less recognise it. Also there is a great naturist camp site only 5 mins walk away

Had a stroll on Downderry beach and it looks lovely, dramatic cliff backdrop, packed deep with trees, and such beautiful rockpools at the waters edge. The rocks are such amazing colours, grey, pink yellow etc... and the far section looks great for swimming.
I also made it up to Carbeil and they seem lovely people. Very welcoming for my first club experience and a friendly bunch hanging by the pool, it was a great way to spend an afternoon! I'll be back that way later in the year so will perhaps pop over. What's it like to visit in the Autumn/Winter?

Glad you liked the area. We love it and go to Carbeil very often as we live nearby. As for winter well, what can u say its cold but you do get some nice weekends and have been sat outside quite late in the year in the sun. Please give us a try.

I'll defo give Carbeil another try later in the year then, perhaps in september/october. I hope they have some fun events planned. They have the sauna and hot tub so can imagine most fun is in there. Maybe see you there some time. It really is a great atmosphere so i suggest other forum members try it too.

I have been going for years. It's difficult to get to at times, but when you are there and a few others have made the effort, its wonderful. A lot of people climb over the rocks from Downderry village end and do not go past the big chunk of rock that can cut you off when the tide comes in.  If you do go past the rock and enjoy the large stretch of beach and you do get cut off, look for the ropes dangling down at the far end, you can climb up the cliff and walk up to the coastal path, although you will burn off quite a few pasties in the process!
You get all sorts of naturists, but there is never normally any bother, and the people are very pleasant and chatty.
But it can be very quiet at times, even on warm days.

MMM yes I go to another beach over the rocks to the right of Portwrinkle sometimes, but there you can get cut off by the tide so you have to leave early or wait..

Can I just clarify something please?

I've looked on Google Earth and see that there is a stretch of beach to the east of Downderry village, is this the beach that you refer to? 

It's difficult to tell on Google Earth if the tide is in or out but there is a bit of a headland further to the east and then a long stretch of beach - is this accessible too?

Then, further still to the east towards Portwrinkle there are several more coves - are these accessible as well and are they naturist?  Or is it all pretty deserted and no-one much about?

The coast path here looks inviting as well so I feel I ought to make a trip and explore a bit.

Any more information appreciated.
