Sillery Sands at Lynmouth is the easiest for me to access. I have looked at sites which suggest that it is best to go to the end of the beach but I don,t know which one. I have never met anyone in the two years I have been going down there. Textiles get down onto beach 1 and usually stay around the steps where the sand is. About two years ago someone painted 'Nudist Beach' on the cliff on beach 2 but that has washed off or been removed. Using 2 or 3 requires low water and limits the time spent there. I note that sites refer to Sillery as tolerating nudity but I wonder if beach 1 is included. Can anyone enlighten me please.

When i visited with friends we used beach 1 in this photo (I presume this is looking toward Lynmouth top right and the access is at far end of beach 1 in this photo?). We stripped off as soon as we got to the beach and walked to the first outcrop between 1 and 2 and saw naturist beach painted on the rocks - then walked back again - we were the only ones on the beach as the weather was not ideal, but as we walked back up the steep zigzag path, a family was walking down. As we neared the top we saw them on the beach in the distance - dad and son naked and mum and daughter textile.

Thanks for the reply Martyn, I was beginning to think I was the only one who knew of this beach. Yes, the photo was taken looking towards Lynmouth with the path coming down onto the Lynmouth (far) side of beach 1. From what you say and from what I have read on the net I would guess beach 1 is clothing optional. Tel

I've been to number 3 - last summer. Was a couple of people around - we arrived by boat though (anchored off and rowed ashore!). Its the only way to travel 😉
