Hi

I will be working down in Gt Yarmouth the next couple of days and heard about Corton but after researching it looks like this isnt really the best place to go anymore.

Can anyone recommend a beach within around 30 mins of Gt Yarmouth.

Thanks in advance

Corton is still in use, BN are having an event day later this year.

You may want to consider Winterton/Horsey.

Either park at Winterton, then left when on the beach or park at Horsey gap and go right till you meet the seals.

Nice day, if a little sharpness in the wind, but the dunes will be sheltered.

Enjoy.

Hi keV

I took your advice. Currently in the dunes after a very pleasant walk from nature reserve car park.

Found a lovely sheltered spot 🙂

Pity the water isn't warmer as a swim with the seals is great fun!

Glad you enjoyed it.

wavany council have removed the concrete chicane and replaces it with a wider entrance but places a 2.1 m hight restriction no longer caravan friendly

Have just returned from a week camping at Waxham Sands so it was only a 30 minute walk to the naturist part of the beach, closer to Winterton. During the week it was almost deserted with only the seals for company. It did get a bit busier on Saturday afternoon, but the temperature was into the 30's!
For me it was just about perfect.  The beach was clean; there were no spectators; and plenty of dunes to shelter from the breeze.
If you are coming by car at the weekend, avoid Winterton car park unless you get there really early.  At lunchtime they were queuing all the way back to the village centre.  Much better and cheaper to use Waxham (£2.00 per day) even though you have to walk a fair way.  I found the beach was deserted 5 minutes from the camp so could be naked almost the whole way.
