Is anyone familiar with the naturists beaches in Cornwall?
I visited the beach near Loe Bar/Porthleven on Saturday, which is I think know to attract naturists but apart from one couple, who I think were naked but had a windbreak up, there was no one around. Will try again later.
Some info here.
Up to now I have only been to Pedn Vounder (plenty of naturists there on the day I visited) but will be in Cornwall again next month and hope t try some of the others.
Will have to visit Pedn Vounder - hope the weather stays fine for your hols.
We'll be in Cornwall next month and will be interested to hear of decent beaches as well. Staying in Perranporth which I believe has a naturist section to the North of its beach.
Visited Fishing Cove today, great little beach, but have to pick your time, as the sun goes behind the cliffs mid afternoon.
Sea was calm, and not too cold for a swim.
Just take care on the climb down.

Today I got to Pednevounder, absolutely fantastic.
Walk down, well goat-like scramble, but when down on the beach it was so good. Sun took haalf an hour to appear fully, and a slight shower of rain, but after that it was wonderful. Water a little cool, and dumping waves at high tide, caused by a bar a little way out, which leaves a small lagoon when tide goes out.
Plenty of Naturists of all ages, and textiles unworried by our presence.
Certainly worth a visit.

As far as i know there are no official naturist beaches in Cornwall. The beach that I know of that is unofficial is just beyond Downderry in in South East cornwall near Seaton. Again there is a scramble down the cliffs to get to it but when the tide is out and the weather is fine there are a good number of people in there. Just beware u dont get cut off by the tide. The locals call it Lord Eliots beach
There are many beaches in Cornwall where you can go to be nude for the day, the coastline is riddled with little coves and beaches where nobody ever goes. There is a nudist beach near Falmouth called Arthurs cove which has not been mentioned here so far. To get there head to Swanpool and park on road leading to the beach or the car park, follow the road a little way up the hill past indaba on the beach, a little restaurant then take the public footpath where the pavement ends. The footpath splits as it goes under trees, take any route except the one across the field, the other two join later. At the top of the first substantial hill there is a bench and war memorial, take the footpath off left just round the corner after this. Not the on before the bench. Simply follow this footpath down and you will reach the beach. There are clothing optional signs nailed to a tree near the entrance to the beach itself and some yob has spray painted the name of the beach on a rock across from the entrance (only visible at low tide.)
speedofsloth,
Arthurs cove which has not been mentioned here so far.
It is on our 'CO Beaches' map, available from the right 'Menu' on the 'Home' page! 🙂

Sorry, wasn't aware of the feature as I'm a new member. Just noted it hadn't been mentioned in the post. 🙂
No problem speedofsloth, must take you ages to reach some of your local beaches! ;D
I only pointed it out for yourself & other new members who were not aware of the map.
BTW A warm w; to our site.

Vault beach near Gorran Haven, just round from Mevagissey is our favourite. Downderry near Looe is not too bad but more pebbles than sand.
Thanks for the info and warm welcome Tony. 🙂
Andy T, regarding Perranporth, check before you go out nude on the beach. There is a nudist area at the top but MOD have closed it down due to gay cruising and sexual activities in the dunes. Last I heard it was overturned and available for use by nudists again but the last thing you want is the army coming down on you 🙂
Vault Beach, accessible from Gorran Haven via the coast path, is our favourite beach. The 20 minute walk keeps the unwanted away - very quiet and very relaxing.
