This is a textile campsite but with a walled area for Naturists.
It used to only have a stand pipe and thunder Box Loo, in the naturist section, but I have heard they now have a shower Block.
It is a good place to stay if you want to go to the naturist beach which is only a short Walk.
Plus if you want to visit Snowdon or North Wales, the scenery is spectacular.
Post Code LL44 2RX for the sat Nav.
Tel: 01341 247571 or 01341 247001
David is the proprietor.
When We visited a few years ago for a BN meet he made us very welcome.

Keep On Smiling:)

We have been to this site many times and really enjoy being there. (go over to the textile site for great fish and chips next to the club house) we will be going back next year to this site.

I love an all over tan

The textiles I believe call it Colditz, but there again there used to be a concrete panel wall, but the stone one is far better and in keeping with Snowdoniar National Park .

It is Ok...... but I have been to better sites. There is not a shower in the naturist bit, only a portaloo and a tap for fresh water. The regulars are a friendly bunch though.
Pub nearby. Walk to the big campsite/caravanpark along the straight road and turn right, up a lane. Real ale!! 15 mins walk.

We could do with more decent nudie camp sites in the area - when I win the Lottery  ::)

It's ok, but I am not too keen on the owner, and the facilities aren't fantastic, even on the textile part. Pity he couldn't turn over his whole camp to naturists - he'd make a small fortune!
Scrub that, he'd make a large one!  😕

This is my write up on MD.
A couple of years since we last went though.

Morfa Dyffryn Official Naturist Beach

This beach is in North Wales between Barmouth and Harlech. Official Naturist
Beach, well established, wonderful scenery.

This link gives plenty of information and directions –
http://www.n-2.org.uk/nuff/pages/beaches/dyffryn.htm

We have always found the beach to be well populated with nice people. It is best
for couples and families to stay close to the sign which marks the start of the
naturist section on the beach. The sand is excellent and the sea surprisingly
warm (especially on an incoming afternoon tide on warm days), calm and shallow.
You can walk along the beach nude as much as you like to the other end which is
more than a mile and a half.

Only downside is the `Meercats' in the dunes. These single males can be a bit of
a nuisance, but they are less of a problem if you stick around other couples on
the beach. The first 50 yds or so are good to avoid them because of the
`opening' in the dunes keeping them further away.

Benar Beach Campsite (3/4 mile to Naturist section of beach)

We have always stopped at Benar Beach when we have camped, using both tent and
caravan, always in the small (walled) naturist field. This can feel a bit shut
in and this does restrict the great views of the landscape a little, but it's
peaceful and private. You can be nude as much as you like in there. We have met
some v nice people as well. We attended the SunTrekker Rally on our last visit.

Facilities are basic, only tap and portaloo (in season) in the Naturist Field.
Washrooms on main site and you need to get dressed and buy a token to use the
showers . Tokens are only 20p, but you need to think ahead if you want a
shower when the office is shut.

The owners have always been v nice and friendly to my wife and I, but they do
not welcome single sex groups. Shop in office sells ices and a few bits, incl
long tent pegs. These are essential if windy. Note the walls funnel the wind and
do not protect you.

Cost about £11 per unit/night, no hook ups in Naturist Field, slightly pricey
IMHO.

Great location though and quiet at night. Rating 6.5/10

Toilets have always been very clean on our visits, including the Portaloo on the
naturist field.

Tel No is 01341 247571 and 247001. One number is the site; other is the owner's
house. If no answer on one, try the other. These numbers are also useful if you
arrive at the site and there is nobody there. They seem to go home around 12.30
to 3pm.

It is best to book, but not essential.

Glyn's Field (3/4 mile to Naturist section of beach)

A very basic site, adjacent to Benar Beach. Portaloos and water only, no
caravans.
Rumoured to be threatened with being closed down. (Not licensed)
Nice field, nice owner, cheap. Naturism very difficult, no screening.
We have not stayed there, but know many who have over many years.

Dyffryn Seaside Estate (1/2 mile to Naturist section of beach)

Large site in same area, with all facilities but NOT naturist. Never stayed
there, but my brother's family has, and they rated it well. Has indoor pool for
a temporary membership fee, but no naturist sessions. Has a decent general shop,
fish & chips, bar, kiddies playground and electricity etc. Also rents static
caravans.

Recommended B&B

Cadwgan Hotel
Dyffryn Ardudwy, Gwynedd LL44 2HA
Tel: 01341 247240
E-mail: cadwgan.hotel@...
Not far from the centre of the village, Cadwgan Hotel is a charming,
tucked-out-of-the-way place that offers comfortable accommodation in relaxed and
tranquil surroundings. Dating from the turn of the 20th century, this large
family house now has seven individual en-suite guest rooms. Owners, Adam and
Karen Greenfield are well known for their excellent home cuisine and, also their
good range of real ales, beers and other usual drinks. The hotel is also open to
non-residents; children are welcome and there is a lawned beer garden with
children's play area.

We have stayed here when we B&B when visiting MD. It is 30yds over the railway
crossing next to the station at Dyffryn Ardudwy. It is about 1 1/4 miles from
the MD Naturist beach (40 mins walk). Excellent location if travelling by train
as you can get around the area easily as well.

It is a pub which serves meals and has about 5 rooms. Rooms are large and v
clean. Good breakfast and bar meals in evening. Sensible drinks prices. Very
friendly staff, and also the locals in the bar. Good views, incl. the MD sand
dunes. Has a separate large games room and nice garden with kiddie's playground.
All round decent venue IMO.

Also rents 2 s/c flats (and a caravan?). About £55 B&B for a couple (a bit
pricey? not sure what others charge?)

Seaside Naturist rating 8/10

Evenings

Apart from above Hotel, there are a couple of other local pubs but we have not
visited them.

There is an EXCELLENT little Fish & Chip shop behind a bungalow on the main road
(between Chapel & Talybont)

There is an EXCELLENT little Italian restaurant by the bridge in Talybont. It is
EXTREMELY popular and you MUST book usually at least 2-3 days ahead!

Excellent write up "Seaside Naturist" and all details are spot on.
My only addition for NC readers is to say that the Cadwgan Hotel is within walking distance from Benar Beach and Glyns Field campsite....about ten minutes..... and worth it for the beer alone!
Straight up the Dyffryn Seaside Estate road, turn right at reception, and up the lane.

Not sure when you stayed there Seaside Naturist but no tokens for the showers at Benar Beach, you just go in the office and pay David 50p and go to the portakabin that is the shower block. Two in the men's side and three in the women's side. Cost £16 a night to pitch a tent in the naturist section last weekend.
I can vouch for the chippy at the Seaside estates site it is worth a visit  😉

The last time that I stayed at Benar Beach campsite (naturist enclosure) there was talk of Dafydd rebuilding the East wall to enlarge the area.
Does anybody know if this has happened yet?

Thanks for the excellent write up. Very informative.

I'm thinking of a trip to this beach sometime in July/August, but as a single bloke, don't want to be mistaken for one of these meerkats;(. How much of a problem are they, and would people recommend that single blokes just stay out of the nudist part of the campsite?

I'm sure of my own honest intentions, but don't want to make people uncomfortable. I just want to spend a few days reading on the beach with no clothes on;)

Gajira, I think that you may be confusing the campsite with the beach.
The campsite has a naturist section which is small, it takes about a dozen tents/caravans/motorhomes maximum. It is totally not overlooked by the rest of the campsite and only has a water tap and a portaloo. You use the other facilities on the textile side. There is no meerkat problem at the campsite. Singles can use the site. I was there on my own last week. It is a walled enclosure and can be preferential to the beach if the weather is windy and a bit cool.
The beach is about a 200yd walk and you then turn right and walk for about one mile to the official naturist section of the beach. (signed)
My experience of the beach is that couples/heterosexual singles/groups prefer the south end of the naturist beach and gays prefer the northern end, while the meerkat types use the dunes to wander up and down. If you feel threatened by them, then stick to the beach and ignore them! They give naturism and naturist beaches a bad reputation and annoy us!.
Take a windbreak or a small beach shelter. It can be a windy place.
I hope that this helps.
