I've just got back from 3 days at TB. What a magical place. Stuck in a timewarp but beautifully simple.
They welcome naturists with dogs, as long as you control and clean up after them.
Me and my dog went swimming in the lagoon!

Did you try night swimming in the lagoon?

You leave a phosphorescent trail that glows bright green in the moonlight.  😎 😮

"Stuck in a timewarp but beautifully simple." - I think thats the magic of the place. My wife and I love going there to relax in beautifull surroundings  - I will try night swimming next time we go there.

Nude is not rude.

Do you know if they get many families there. Looking at textile sites at the moment has they seem to have more children for daughter to play with.

Yes they do in the school summer holidays and most are families that seem to go back every year.

We would like to visit that site in the summer with our 7 m caravan.  Can anyone give any information about the facilities, ease of entry with a large caravan etc.  Any information would be greatly appreciated as there is no web site that we can find.  Not sure why!
Thanks

Not sure why!

The owners haven't started one!

The road to the site from Carew is narrow but, and I'm not a caravanner, the site should be OK. It may be worth your while looking at Streetview. If you've the newest version of google earth you can "drive along" the roads.

There are modern toilets but the washing area is a bit rustic. There are salt water lagoons to swim in which may not be to everyone's taste. There are boules and badminton courts and last time we visited a couple of old rowing boats to mess about in.

The club house is an old prefab type building. It's not everyone's cup of tea but we loved it, great crowd get there and very sociable.

Hope that helps. I guess others will know a lot more.

Davie  😎

Hi Bob & Sue.

The owner, Joe, advises that if you have a motorhome, like me, or a caravan, then turn off the A 4075, at the Land Rover garage and drive to West Williamston and take the road out south.
Tything Barn is then on your right.
All of the roads in the area are single track with passing places but there is very little traffic. There is a very narrow bit between some buildings in West Williamston but it is passable with care.
The more direct road from the river bridge has overhanging trees and is a bit tight, apparently.
My favourite moments at TB are to wander around the lagoons with my dog and laze around on the grass, passing the time of day with others, maybe taking a dip in the water if you fancy it.
Also, you can walk down to and onto the edge of the estuary. High tide is the popular time to do this.
In the evenings, there are usually a few people congregating around the log fire outside of the shed.
Also, there is an OK pub near the castle, about 20 minutes walk (Russell Crowe used it whilst filming there a couple of years ago.)
There is no Swimming pool or hot tub or sauna.
The site is all grass, with many "home made" hookups!
TB is like stepping back in time. The facilities are quaint but serve the purpose well.

In conclusion, it is a beautiful place. In my opinion, an equal first with Acorns. 🙂
If you need more info, PM me.

I visited Tything Barn this past summer, it was a really great place. There looked to be lots of space for caravans and such, but as already mentioned the lanes leading down there are very narrow, so you just have to take it slow.

It's a really lovely place though, although even on a warm, summer day when I went, the water wasn't too warm for swimming - although that didn't stop me hehe

Thanks to everyone who gave us advice.  We are going down there for Valentine's weekend for 3 days to check it out although I don't think we'll be going 'au natural'!

Have a nice time. I have been told that the locals do occasionally use it in the early months if it is sunny, as the lagoons really are sheltered.
