For me, Acorns is the most magical place to be naked in nature. Set in superb surroundings of rolling hills and wooded valley's, off the beaten track and a perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of modern life. I want to sing it's praises, but am also mindful, that I have found a most wonderful place that should remain a secret!!! I shall be returning on numerous occasions this summer and beyond. 🙂

Just back after a short visit this week.  I was camping and the price is £15 per night for one,  plus £10 per additional person.  Whilst pricey, you get marvelous countryside and the wood burning sauna, pool and hot tub, and the toilet blocks were immaculate when I was there.

I mentioned to Andy (the owner) that some had said the hot-tub water wasn't too clean, but he said the water is sourced from a natural spring, and the colouring is minerals not dirt!  It passes all the council checks - just unfortunate that they don't always tellpeople that which leads to misunderstandings.

Had a great time and lovely walks through the fields, with no-one in sight for miles.  Will go again....

Cheers for that report Dave.
We are considering a few days down there (part holiday part reccie).

What is the best beach to go to from there?

Re the Hot Tub water:   I'd have also queried it, but so long as they treat it every day and check the pH, free chlorine (or equiv) and bacteria levels etc it should be OK.

Note on hot tubs in general - if they are used more than just domestic use (ie more frequently/more people) they really should be checked more than once a day. Ideally there should be a chart showing when the tub was last checked/treated and the ph levels etc.
Also anyone using it should be asked shower to remove any creams or deodorant prior to getting in to preserve the water quality.  I have to admit that have some testing strips that I tend to use to check the water before I get in any 'public' hot tub.  It can be too easy to get things like eye infections.   😎

Back again!!!

I think the beach that most use is the CO at Budleigh Salterton.  No chance of getting there when I was there as too wet and only had a few days.

Interesting is there was one day last week when there were more Dutch naturists on-site than English according to Andy the owner.

There are plenty of signs up telling people to shower after sauna and before entering hot tub etc.  The hot-tub certainly is chlorinated as I could smell it, but can't remember a check chart.  Might see you down there as may have to work in Devon week again, and I might stay a few days extra if I can.

I certainly enjoyed it, especially the mowed pathway through the wild fields.  There is also a "hide" for wildlife photography...

The  prices Acorns charge are way too high. We are staying at Montanaturista in Portugal and we pay €10 per night and that includes mega pitch, showers, pool, awning, car, pets, two people, Everything except the the electric which is on a metre for long stay.

A glass of larger is only 50 cents.  If any one wants the web address let me know. It is Dutch run by a young couple and they are helped by an English couple.

The prices Acorns charge are displayed on their site.  As a camper I don't mind paying £15 a night for a lovely site, with a genuinely friendly atmosphere.  I brought my own wine, as did the couple in the next tent, and we had a great evening chatting.

The continent may be warmer, but the travel costs overall are less to Devon.....

Although this is somewhat stealing the Acorns thread (sorry!) I would appreciate the website for Montenaturista please as we have had to greatly shorten our Summer hols to Euronat and La sabliere this year so we may be looking for somwwhere earlyish next year - is it far enough South to be warm in February/March? Thanks.

...actually it was a senior moment, as i thought afterwards that I could just google (which i have done).

It's been a tricky time recenty, not least of which losing our 5/6 week naked trip round France....so the old thinking is a bit slower than normal at the moment.

I may start a separate thread to see who's been to Montanaturista and get opinions nearer the time.
