Well, a belated report on my first experience of a naturist beach at Easter.
OH had visited Slapton before. I was very blase on the drive down through the Devon lanes; I had been a life model for five years and was well used to laying in the buff for hours on end- surely this would be much less daunting!WRONG! As we 'ouched' our way down the shingly beach I became aware that the end that was the 'nudist' part looked suspicously empty, whilst the normal end was scattered with happy, clothed families, giving rise to the question 'Are you SURE this is a nudist beach?!'
We settled down and boyf happily stripped off. I was still bothered by the proximity of the clothed people and couldn't see a naked soul anywhere and sat feeling rather blue in my linen trousers and bikini top.Eventually moved further down the beach and I stripped off and settled down with my book. The sun felt gorgeous, :)as did the breeze; the whole effect was truly relaxing. As people started to arrive I began to feel more at home, though the proliferation of windbreaks made me feel a bit underprepared with just a mere towel! Also made me a feel like a real youngster; most of the people there were much older than me (28).
Only real negative of the day was when boyf nipped down the beach to use the bathroom and the single man who had been walking up and down the beach with a suspicously placed satchel decided to use this opportunity to place his towel down about six feet behind me :-/ Bearing in mind that the beach is pretty vast this was a little disconcerting, but I suppose one must expect the occasional odd-bod! What is the best way of dealing with this type of situation?
All in all an excellent experience and I think one that I will be repeating for many years to come! Just a shame that the nature of my job, working away in a country about as far away from the sea as you can physically get, prohibits it becoming a regular thing!
Glad you enjoyed the beach - there really is something quite special feeling the sun and sand/shingle and sea on you....sadly there are the odd sorts around and I have experienced similar and unwanted attention like you on beaches and more in UK than on the continent........
My advice is to ignore the space invading type and most get the message and move away....but its a shame and should not spoil a nice day

We have witnessed a peculiar but happy side of this at Studland.
Young women (in 30's) comes to beach lies down not far from us and some well spaced out couples early in day. Within an hour before 11:00am about 4 or 5 single guys set up surrounding the woman and between her and the other couples and families now on beach.
Guy some way away has swim...gets bottle of sun lotion and walks over to woman and asks if she would oil his back...she does. He then goes gets his towel and bag of clothes...they sit down and chat...go for swim, etc.
Strangely all the single guys bar one soon moved off elsewhere. Eventually about 4:00 the man and lady left together after a decent day swimming and sunning together on beach.
We have no idea if they knew each other before or he had a great opening line. Eli was very intrigued and questioned me at length all day about it...I even suggested she go ask them if they knew each other. One couple from a family near us asked us if we had observed the situation too and wondered if we could enlighten them on whether it was a first introduction or not....none of us knew. I am not sure I cared but it did intrigue a few folks around...my other half especially...ha.
I am not sure what the moral is or even what it says about couples tending to banish singles...but if I were a single guy I think it is... unless you have the guts to actually introduce yourself politely and engage in some social niceties, why cramp the space of another individual?
Anyway not sure what it is but the man and lady certainly looked like they had a great day on beach when they left together. Surely that is the main thing about naturism.

I once visited Fraisthorpe beach on the east coast (no longer nat beach booo!) and set up my much needed windbreak and settled onto my towel. After a while the beach started to get more bodies on and two ladies set up their beach base close to mine. I almost felt embarrassed to glance in their direction incase it looked as though I was leering! We exchanged pleasantries and enjoyed the day but I did notice an increasing amount of single men stroling close by.

The beach at Slapton is my favorite beach i`ve written about it elsewhere on here just wish i could get to visit it more . With regard to the single guy issue when i used to go with my girlfriend she too had the att of single beach roaming males a mile of sand but they seem to favour the same spot as us >:(. she used to slip some clothes on for 5 minuits in that time they usually moved on , presumably spotting somewhere else they had missed that was a better spot than ours , this worked 9 out of 10 times . The 1 out of ten times she used to giggle and say they must be looking at you :-/ . It is a pain when these guys do this and gives us single guys such a bad name , yes i`m single now but when i go to the beach i am very careful about where i set out my spot for the day so that i don`t invade peoples space . So if you see a guy on his own away from where you are with no females near him come and say hi its probably me 😎

I assume you're working in Switzerland (the Geneva end, from your profile). Yes, a long way from the sea, but there are some places near lakes and rivers where you can shed the clothes. I'm sure you've googled the better-known ones, but here are some other pointers:-
- Venture into France. Have a look at http://www.ffn-naturisme.com/ .
[*]There's a place between Zug and Cham, on the lake. A long way to go, but Zug's a nice place anyway and you presumably have a Halbtax or GA. From Zug, walk along the lakeside, past the harbour, the canoe club and the sawmill (in that order) and you'll find it. It's the furthest of about 3 bathing spots; the other two are textile. Not a bad place, but it does get a bit crowded. Usual M/F imbalance, but the solitary men seem well-behaved - except for the one or two who might smoke to windward of you >:(
[*]For an even longer, but worthwhile adventure, go to Locarno (another nice place). Possibly the best experience is to take the little train from Locarno station (underground) and get off a few short stops later at Ponte Brolla. People regularly skinny-dip in the river there (and further downstream), though you're not supposed to in case they open the Hydrolelectric sluices. You have been warned! I'm told there are more places in the Lido area (to the east of the town) and in mountain rivers to the north (car needed for these).
