Just had a week in Playa Blanca for wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful, relaxed time. Rented a villa http://www.casamanana.co.uk/ which was very nice. Lovely warm pool which wasn't particularly overlooked. Every time I went sunbathing or swimming, it was nude. Even having breakfast on the terrace I was nude. The feeling of freedom and relaxation seemed more intense and the fact I could just dry off by the sun and not worry about wet shorts is difficult to explain. My wife went topless for the 1st time ever and actually admitted she felt better for it but "don't expect me to on the beach!"
Would recommend the villa but once or twice when double decker coaches went by, I had to be more discreet!
Definitely looking at going back next year when I also hope to try Papagayo beach but at 15E each for the water taxi, it's expensive to get there unless you rent a car.

Hiya,
I love Playa Blanca been there a couple of times and you must visit the lovely beaches of the Papagayo area, I think it is well worth it and it is pleasant boat trip if you decide to go by boat from the harbour.

🙂

We used taxis to get to Papagayo beaches last year, much cheaper than the boat, just get the taxi to the Papagayo Arena Hotel & it's a short walk over the headland to the beaches, on returning we even went to reception in the hotel & asked them to call us a taxi for the return journey, no problem. taxi fare was about 5 euros each way for the four of us.

weve always stayed in the puerto del carmen area for family holidays cos its more central on the island, but the road down the middle has been improved in recent years so staying in playa blanca , down one end isnt really an issue now, and next time we wont have to think about amusing the children
