This is not a post about one single experience which I call "first" nude experience, because basically I don't really believe I have one.  Instead it is a potted-history of some of the signifcant memories and experiences along my path to becoming a nudist.  So are we sitting comfortably?  Then I will begin...  🙂

I suppose my first exposure (pardon the pun) to nudism came when I was 6.  It was on a family holiday to Dorset and we visited Studland beach.  My parents aren't nudists so we were in the textile part of the beach.  However this was the early 1980s (before the infamous green posts) when the restrictions on where people could be nude were more relaxed than they are today.  Anyway I remember playing in the sand, building a sandcastle on my own (not sure what my parents were doing but knowing them they'd probably dozed off after lunch!), when a girl slightly younger than me (I would guess around 4) came up to see what I was doing.  She was completely naked, but this was nothing unusual.  As I said, this was the 80s and it was commonplace to see young children on the beach with no clothes on and was something I had seen plenty of times before.  What did surprise me, however, was when her mum and dad showed up a few minutes later and they were naked too!  Now even at 6 years old I remember thinking it was odd seeing grown-ups on the beach with nothing on.  Anyway they collected their daughter and went on their way, and I thought nothing more about it although the memory has remained with me to this day.

Fast-forward now to when I was about 12/13 years old.  Completely by chance, I caught a documentary on the TV about naturism and found it absolutely fascinating.  I admit that part of the fascination stemmed from being able to see women in the nude, but hey I was only 13 at the most and fuelled by hormones.  More importantly it re-awoke my memory of Studland and it now suddenly made sense.  I also decided that I wanted to give it a try for myself.  So next time I was alone at home, I stripped off and spent a couple of hours in the nude at home.  At the time it felt liberating yet strangely naughty too, probably due to the secretive nature in which I was doing it.  This then became the pattern for nudism and me throughout my teenage years.

Next major milestone came at the age of 23.  I had finally left home, got a car and was now completely independant.  So one hot summer's day, I decided to finally try a nudist beach and went to Holkham for the day.  When I arrived there were already several other people there, but I'd come this far and wasn't going to chicken out.  I found myself a nice spot and after a few minutes messing about, I decided to take the plunge.  Off came the clothes and it felt simply brilliant.  It was extremely liberating and I was hooked straight away.  I then went for a swim in the sea and was amazed at how different it felt to swim with nothing on.

Later in the afternoon, I ended up chatting to a family who were also visiting the beach and it was then that I realized what friendly people nudists/naturists really are.  Since then I've never looked back...
