This thread fresh in my mind. I took the well trodden path (clothed!) from the car park to the monument and back just as dusk fell today after coming back from Exeter. Interestingly this time i was sub-conciously watching the number and types of people about. I counted 6 cars as i arrived and 2 as i left (including mine). Everybody I saw had either a child or dog in tow, so I agree with Martin that the best time for a naked stroll around there would be on a clear warm spring/autumn day, mid/late morning during term time.

As for today, the time of day with a clearing sky was very peaceful and still once the kids had gone. Should have taken me wellies though...

I can well imagine that the country around but not too close to the monument must be very suited for naturist walking. I look forward to trying it. As you say RB, a group is always better...although I can't believe there would ever be a problem if people picked their time and place carefully.

I am fortunate in having a job that allows me time during the late morning or early afternoon so it's ideal for skinwalking in the woods or the countryside.  At this time of the year when it's cold I get a lot more paperwork done at home though 🙂

I like the tern skinwalking although the term freerange naturist serves me better. I consider that I am in essence the ultimate in light-weight rambling
Here is a picture of me with the local ramblers association. Wearing the minimum of clothing, for modesty reasons, while others around me sweated up the hills. You wear a buffalo next to the skin a fact some ramblers could not appreciate until I enlightened them. I am a good influence on this group 🙂 It was not that cold and wearing a running shorts, no liner, and a light t-shirt was more than I would normally wear. I define this garb as being technically naked ie: one wears clothes for modesty reasons not for being appropriate to the conditions.

Hi taron, SSB usually has its walks on the first Thursday of every month. Devdon usually posts a message on the SSB announcements section of this forum to advertise where it's going to be and will almost certainly be in the area of Blackdown hills/Quantocks or Exmoor. It looks like this will tie in with your visit in this direction. I'll be looking to do this walk at some point this year...the country around it is lovely for views and walks.

Hi

I have kept this route in mind for some while and eventually gave it a try a few days ago.

I drove around the lanes and parked at the southern end of the path then stripped off to shorts and sandals.  I then set off for a brief exploratory walk to check that the way was indeed clear.  It was immediately apparent that there were no people about so I removed my shorts and turned back to the car where I intended to leave my shorts.

However, just as I approached the road a truck appeared and backed right up to the stile.  I quickly slipped my shorts back on as a guy left the truck and immediately set off along the path.  He was wearing overalls and there was what looked like fencing in the back of the truck so perhaps he had something to attend to.

Anyway, that was the end of my naked walk!

I'll give it another try at some time in the future because I still feel this route has possibilities and report if successful.

Martin
