Would it be a good idea to have a sticky post that links to walk descriptions and is divided into regions? Many of the posts on this board are requests for walk info. Perhaps it would also encourage more people to post their local walks too?

I know im a cynical old git but, if you told the world where the naked walks are would it not attract the same problems that occur at nude beaches. Moors and mountains on a weekday providing you carry a cover up and stay off the main OS footpaths should be safe. I would not be happy walking on paths and through fields near roads and parking areas if the general public knew of the activity. Being ambushed by flashing cameras and gawpers does not appeal to me. This site with its ten day rule is more secure than others but eventually the info would leak out. People who have their own little quiet spot where they go for a short walk in peace and quiet are I feel unlikely to inform us of the location, I would'nt. As my better half frequently tells me I am probably totally wrong. I wonder if the recent publications of skinny dipping sites has had any adverse effect on the relaxed enviroment of these areas. To stray off the subject a little, how many of us are involved in this activity? Maybe if someone who knows how to construct a poll could get an idea of numbers for future use. Should we ever need to lobby an authority such as the national parks who I feel could at least provide one naturist route each where I could not care less how many ambushes I stumbled into. Tel

I have to confess that I would be reluctant to publish my "home range" walks. I use these pretty regularly and would not be keen to have others using them and drawing further attention to them.

I do however put out reports occasionally of walks I have done that are off my normal patch (recent walks by the Angel of the North and in Windsor Great Park come to mind) and some of those could easily be worked out by others however they are generally only suitable for out of hours walking.

As for skinny dipping; I've only managed that twice in the past week, once in Derwent Reservoir, Northumberland and once in the Thames.

Have fun,

Ian.

If the publication were restricted to closed naturist sites, those other users would be there for the same reason that you are. That can only draw the kind of attention which would further the cause, surely!

i give vague details of some places which may encourage others to try similar places.
i would be reluctant to supply accurate details... i wouldnt want someone less discrete than myself alerting the locals to my ramblings...
then there is also the senario where half a dozen bods turn up individually, all see each other and remain dressed cos theres other people about...
its not difficult to find nude rambling opportunities if you put your mind to it.
i feel lone ramblers widely scattered is probable better than congregating in what would become known as nude rambling hot spots,
i know i personally would rather use ten places once rather than return ten times to one place in a short period of time.

Whether clothed or not I think we all like our own private spot where we can sit or walk in peace and absorb the surroundings without being distracted by the fleeting glance of someone approaching. There is plenty of room out there, all you have to do is find it which is half the fun. Being given it on a plate is only half the experience. Our cause can only be advanced by influencing the public, not each other, we are already converted. Guiding others into the general area as in recent posts re Yorkshire, Derwent Water etc is fine. Once there walkers can establish their own routes and favourite spots which they can keep for themselves. Im not really that mean, Here is my favourite spot but Im not telling you where it is. Strolling Bear members have an advantage, the clue: Not quite the width of my bottom.Tel

I'm of the same opinion as the other posters.
I gave lots of info on Bodmin Moor as it's useful for holidays.
My own patch is open access but disputed still by the aristocracy.

Hmm. Interesting reaction. Seems to reveal some contradictory threads in attitudes? Naturism is dying out, but if we tell others about walks then they'll be teeming with naturists. We want to be more accepted by the public, but if more people do it they might alert the locals.

My view is that there aren't that many naturists around and of them, very few who actually get out and walk in the nude, so the chances of increasing traffic in any one area are not significant. Yes I enjoy researching walks but not as much as doing them and if I am traveling about I don't have the chance to check out a site for suitability, so a few tips can only help.

I'm not being judgmental, just interested in the conflicts that naturism creates at times. If the general opinion is not to publish specific walks then that is fine and I will desist. After all, everywhere is potentially someone's local patch.

I tend to agree with most here. I spend a lot of time researching walking routes.  I also read a lot about nudist beaches and clubs being frequented by swingers and perverts.

To say we are only going to meet likeminded people if we advertise walking spots here is a little naive. Without pointing fingers I do have suspicions that some members here are not harmless naturists.  Deny it if you wish but there are some kinds I would not want to share a walk with and some of them hide in naturist forums

to be honest i dont think i go for naturist walks at all... i go for a natralist walk with a camera to take pics of the flora and fauna.... but whilst alone in the wilds i sometimes feel more comfortable without wearing clothes. i guess im lucky i dont have to go somewhere to be a naturist, i can be naked in my own garden virtually any time i want to, but here again it does tend to be incidental to doing something else... i rarely just sunbathe in the garden... or anywhere else for that matter... id far rather go for a naked natralist ramble along a deserted beach than sit in one place on a naturist beach, worrying that id been seen as some sort of single male perv if i strayed from my spot.
funny how this forum makes one think about things.

I have an understanding of the request of a compendium of walks but...

I have a favourite area rather than a favourite walk. I've posted about my beloved Berwyns several times on here, and would not want to bore anyone further. I think I'd keep any really special walk to my-self, as I do with a particular small secluded beach in North Wales. That's not only for selfish reasons but because I respect the individual who allows me access to the beach across his fields which passes right in front of his house.

Davie i understand your feelings there.  A couple of my favorite locations are also frequented by a few regular dog walkers.  Quite a few of those I have recently spoken to about my nude walking and most are fine about it if I am considerate.  If I suddenly introduced a few more naturists the regulars might find it a little less comfortable.

So I selfishly protect my own interests so I can continue doing what I like doing 🙂

Reading these posts i can see why i didn`t get much response to my request for places to try local to me then , didn`t realise feelings were so stong about keeping places secret from others ! Rich

It's not a strong feeling on my behalf, it's a general area I walk. (It is with the beach though) I'm happy to share information with any individua on this site, and I have previusly suggested areas to walk.
