Glad you made it work.

I think you will have to save the path to your 'My Places' on your Google Earth and then you should be able to modify it.

Any/all pin points and the route can be moved simply by dragging.  The route can be a bit difficult - there are tiny red points where there are changes of direction and these can be dragged, extended or deleted as necessary.  It means that you can correct anything that I have produced (or anyone else can for that matter).

To modify: load the path file in Google Earth, right click the path under 'My Places' and select properties.  As you hover over the path a square box should appear which turns to a finger pointer where are changes of direction.  Once done click OK to save.

Distances and the elevation profile are found by right clicking the path under my places and selecting 'Show elevation profile', second from bottom of list.

Another point.

Google Earth defaults to kilometres.

To changes to miles, select Tools, Options, 3d View, and on the second row, 'Show Elevation' and select feet & miles.

I've had a play with it and I'm hooked.
Click on the previous link to see my modifications in yellow.
I've done the flyover tour. Wow!
A bit quicker than the real thing!

Not worked out how to set up a new route yet though.
Any advice?

It may be quicker than the real thing but not as good as!!!

Zoom into where-ever you want on Google Earth.  Click on 'Add' and then 'Path' and you're away. 

Name your path, and OK to save it.  You may have to adjust the colour and line size to suit under 'Style, Colour'.
