We stayed in a tree house (Nid Perche) at Arna in September this year.  It was a great place to stay.  They also have camping in amongst the trees on the way to their beach, with good facilities.  Worth checking their website http://www.arna.com/ for more info.

Arna is our favourite French site. Hope to visit next year.

It is a fair old drive but can be done in a day from St Malo or Cherburg. We did it a couple of times with the caravan and kids. Now, I think we would break the journey.

It is worth the effort and hopefully we will the there this summer.

Susan,  It certainly is a fabulous site to stay.  The walk through the woods to the beach is great, the sea can be a bit rough.  There are plenty of choices of camping areas to stay on the site if not stopping in a chalet.

tbf..... the beach was well policed when we were there. Several lifeguards keeping an eye on everyone and the conditions. We saw plenty of examples of their proactive responses to people straying beyond the flagged area or people perhaps a bit too far out. We are talking about some serious waves though and depending on how you like the sea it can be exhilerating or frightening. At one point I was hit by a wave that broke over the top of me (I wasn't looking) I thought I had been thrown into a washing machine!! I didn't know up from down for a couple of seconds!!

We did a chalet 'duo' at Arna a couple of years ago, very well equipped and clean too. The site is great with a large swimming pool complex and direct access to the beach too.
Its a long drive for sure but we broke the journey with an overnight both ways and France is such a great place to drive too, the only bottleneck we encountered was around Bordeaux at rush hour.
The beach is massive by the way and 100% naturist friendly, not a textile area in sight 🙂
Enjoy if you go.
