In Germany FKK (Freikörperkultur) is a subject that deserves a topic to itself, but we are going to give our impressions of one camp in particular, FKK Campsite Useriner See in Müritz National Park, Mecklenburg.
If like us you are looking to relax and get away from the hussle and bussle of noisy surroundings when away, then the peaceful and tranquil surroundings of this campsite are perfect.
The first thing we noticed as we drove the 1km or so off the main road though the trees, was we could hear nothing but nature and the sound of our own car engine. Perfect. We were shown to our very spacious 120 m2 camping plot (smaller/larger ones available) by a friendly staff member and preceeded to erect the tent, but not before fellow campers came to offer us a hand and give us advice 🙂
The campsite itself has a new, clean, large and disabled friendly toilet block, a small shop where necessities can be bought, a small sitting area for an afternoon beer, a childrens playground, a suntrap sandy beach area and best of all, a jetty if you wish to boat in the Useriner See which adjoins the site. If you don't have your own boat then canoes are available for hire if you so wish.
If you are after a campsite for entertainment and bars then this is not the place for you. If on the other hand you wish for friendly campers, staff and a place to relax and enjoy nature activities, like country walks, birdwatching or rowing across a stunning lake with amazing views, then this could be the very place for you.

Whatever you do, have fun 🙂
Hi Graeme & Jane
Thanks for this post. Useriner See is one place I'm interested to visit next summer.
You mentioned in your post that boats are allowed on the lake.
Do you know if it's possible to use a boat fitted with a small outboard engine?
Thanks again for your interesting post.
Best wishes

Hi Sunworshiper....
That is an interesting question also.
We have read (somewhere) that you could not use an engine BUT the last two times we have been there, people next to us HAVE used engines after they got maybe 20 feet off the water bank. Their engines were not big things (maybe 2.2-5 hp engines) but engines none the less.
Our little boat we have is just oar driven but we may invest in a 2.2 hp honda engine for camping next year.
I will try and check the rules for engines for you whenever possible?
If you do go please let us know and we will try and meet up?
Graeme & Jane
Hi Graeme & Jane
Thanks for the speedy response. I have a 5hp outboard engine which I like to use with my dinghy, but if "oar power" is all I can use then so be it. A bit of exercise won't do me any harm, ha ha.
If I do go I'll certainly be sure and let you know.
Best wishes
