Recently returned from Lanzarote and loved Papagayo. The only problem we had was the weather. Rather cloudy. Also went right to the north of the island where there are lots of those stone wind breaks on the craggy beaches. Plany of naturists in both areas. Will definitely return

Hi there. Can anyone advise if its possible / easy to walk from Playa Blanca to the beaches ay Pappagaya. Most of the previous posts refer to driving but i dont really want to hire a car. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes you can walk to the beaches, can't remember if we caught a bus or taxi, ( definitely a taxi back into Playa Blanca, we simply went to the Arena hotel reception & asked them to call one for us ) ,head for the Papagayo Arena hotel, & its only a short walk to the first beach, which was 100% naturist at the far end, + a few dotted & walking about, I believe there are another 4 beaches if you continue around the headland, each one more naturist than the last, You can also catch a boat from the small port area (not sure about the new marina, which is nearer the beaches ). Type in the hotel name & look at the satelite map of Playa Blanca, You can see both the port & marina . Enjoy, it,s a lovely resort.

All,

Here is a picture of the last Papagayo beach which is the last one on the peninsular and a favorite of mine, CO goes without saying lol.
Easy to get to if staying in Playa Blanca, just walk to the main harbour and hop on a boat and they drop you off at the famous bay in all the advertisements.

That is good to hear, Timberhacker.

My wife and I are thinking of trying these beaches later this year.

I have heard that the naturist areas on Papagayo are shrinking and that textiles are becoming less tolerant of nudism.  However, this came from someone trying to sell accommodation at Charco, so it might not be entirely an independent opinion.

Won't put me off going!

That's the opposite of a conversation I had with someone who is just back from 11 weeks is the south of Lanzarote.
She said that the naturist areas have been expanding. Though this us usual in most places in winter months, may be less so in the summer.
They also confirmed that there is no problems with nude hiking all over the south end.

Thanks, Seaside Naturist

It will be summer when we go, but hopefully the beaches won't be too busy mid-week.

Anyway, will report back soon after.

Make sure that you don't let this stop your enjoyment.
Every time one of us bathes clothed on a nude beach we are scoring a spectacular own goal. 🙁

Don't worry.  We will do our best to support the home team.

I think these beaches were better when the resort of Playa Blanca didn't extend past the Iberostar Hotel. Looks like the more recent development has encroached in the Papagayo Area.

We were in playa blanca last November , its by far the nicest resort in Lanzarote in my opinion . Very relaxed , no noisy bars or rowdiness . We decided to head fir the papagayo beaches and found ourselves on caleta del congrio . It was very quiet and 90% nudist , so we took the plunge and joined in. I was nervous as hell but once I'd stripped off it just felt so natural . It was our first time and I regret taking 45 years to take the plunge . The weather was not brilliant on our week there , we only had one more day of beach weather but we made the most of it . Its very easy to get there by car , just take it slowly on the rough bits . Car hire is very cheap in lanza . Just prebook to pick a car up at the airport . Cost about 90 euros for the week . You save that on airpot transfers .

A planned life can only be endured .

I agree with the previous post, any beach can become textile if naturists stop going to it.

Hi

Well we are back from our visit to Playa Blanca
We eventually rented a villa in the Los Colarades area through ownersdirect which was excellent and with a 10 metre pool.
Unfortunately it was not totally private but with a bit of adjustment of furniture and a towel to get from the sunbeds to the pool we coped, certainly a six foot wall, as mentioned by someone would have been a great advantage.
The weather was excellent and we went to the Papagayo beaches for five days of the seven, we found the best to be Playa Caleta del Cringo as described in Bajuk's reply no 3 and pictured in Phil-sw's photo in Reply 19. We got to it by taking the road down to the left to the abandoned caravan site and taking the path from the right hand corner of the site over the low ridge, which brings you to a very small bay, if the tide is out you can walk along the beach to your right to access the main beach, if it is in you need to take the path over the hill to your right, pretty easy and not far.
Pretty much 80% nudist every day and it was possible to walk onto the cliffs at either side totally nude, I even got as far as the headland looking back into Playa Blanca one day.
There are some very good restaurants to sample, particularly cheap near the centre, we could catch a bus for 1.35 euros into the bus station, or walk it in an hour. A taxi back was about 4 euros
There are nearer restaurants at the Marina but they are no better and about twice the price!
We particularly enjoyed Asia, Roca Mar and Little Italy all near the centre.

Hope that helps someone.
