We discovered Weston Mouth Beach earlier this year after someone visiting our swim at Chepstow Leisure Centre told us about it.  Its a long walk down from the NT car park, but well worth it.  Visited about 3 times so far and enjoyed every visit.

Also you can park in the Donkey sancturary free and walk down and also see the donkeys and pop in to the cafe as well as you will need a drink by the time you get back there !

Is the Donkey sanctuary near to the NT car-park? And is there a sign saying free to park?

Hi Eva the paths  to the beach run down a valley, the Donkey sanctuary one is on one side and the NT is on the other. when you come up the hill from Sidmouth in the direction of seaton you will see the signs to the donkeys, follow them into the site park up and follow the foot path signs to the beach.
Im sure they wont mind parking there if you spend some money with them.
I feel its a lot safer for you car and valueables parked there than in the NT park
Bye

Were there many couples on the beach when you were there and how far down the beach did you walk?

I have mentioned this beach to a friend and she told me that on the day she and her husband went they did not see another naturist, only textiles and so put on their swimsuits. They did not wish to be the only nude couple and I am wondering if they actually found the naturist part of the beach. :-

Hi Eva,  When we have been to Weston Mouth there have been quite a few naturists, both couples and singles, but you tend not to actually see many people unless they walk down to the water or you walk right along the beach, because most people are up by the bank, which tends to be a bit of a suntrap.  You do have to walk well past the hut on the western side of the beach before you notice any other naturists.

I introduced our Sue to naturism for the first time at Weston. She was happy to join me naked, but found the walk back up the hill a slog which is why we don't go there often. I've also gone by boat and walked to it along the shore - the whole way on pebbles - from Sidmouth. Whichever way you go, it takes much more effort than simply going to Budleigh beach.

Think though, what a dream to own that house thats on the beach. In fact there are three dwellings along there. I wonder if they are own privately or by the National Trust. Imagine walking out of your front door straight onto the naturist beach 😉

The official car park has about 10 spaces; I've not considered parking at the Donkey place. Thanks for the suggestion.

Its a good idea as you can get a cold drink or a cup of tea after walking back up that hill!

So, just to confirm, the naturist section is definately on the right hand (western) end of the beach toward Sidmouth not the eastern side ?

Hi furry hope this helps

Weston Mouth is gorgeous.

Travelling from Exeter to Lyme Regis, turn off the A3052 after Sidford at the turning marked Weston. Park in the village at a small free car park with red post box or at a nearby farmer's field for a nominal charge. Camping is available at Oakdown Touring & Holiday Home Park - a large site, near the main road - but we don't think they have naturist facilities.

It's a good hike down to beach, though very pleasant. It's about 3/4 mile and you go down about 500 ft. If you're carrying too much gear, it can be about 20 minutes down and 45 back!

It's definitely NOT one for the disabled.

When you get to the beach, turn right and it seems to be naturist beyond a short stone wall. Its worth taking a wind break as there is not much shelter.

The beach is pebble and shingle and, at low tide, there is some half presentable sand - unusual indeed on a naturist beach in South Devon. The other bonus is that the beach is good fossil hunting territory. You don't need a geologist's hammer or anything fancy; they are everywhere so please just look, take a photo if you want to, and leave gthem where they are.

Thank you Inde.

Just clarifying, went on this beach about 18 years ago as part of a recce for a possible coastwalk - remember the nice but steep walk down & the stones but nothing much else.

I was there on Saturday. Turning left (eastwards) at the beach is OK, too, though more people seem to turn right, from my straw poll - except for the textiles, of course, who seldom stray from around the beach entry point, fortunately for the rest of us.

Let us know when you are going, and we could have an NC party, group meeting.

I shall be staying with family near by and if all goes well intend on visiting the beach during the third week of June. I may go to Budliegh instead of Weston mouth as it is easier to park with easy access to the beach.
Is the café still there?
