I may have asked this before. But does anyone know if there are any beaches beyond the light house at El Cotillo Fuerteventura.

I assume you mean between the lighthouse and Majanichio.

The answer is yes - I have visited several of them on my nude cycle rides - but be aware that hire cars are not insured for the north coast road as it is officially (and actually) unmetalled.
Don't try it unless you are comfortable getting the drive wheels out of soft sand.

Yes, I agree with John.
We tried to do the road in a hirecar last autumn and turned around as the road is, in places, sand. We travelled many miles on unmetalled roads in a hirecar and took a chance, but not on this one, it was just too risky.
Of course, there are fantastic beaches between El Cotillo and the lighthouse. We shall be there again in 3 weeks! Yippee

At this point I might as well add that we drove it about 10 years ago in an Opel Astra and shuddered to a halt in soft sand.
Luckily I was able to rock it out on the clutch using reverse gear and no throttle - much to the disappointment of an onlooking 4WD driver. I think he was hoping to make a few Euros.  ::) 8)

Thanks for the replies. Do you hire your bikes John Gw? I was thinking in terms of going by car but it seems that is not on.  We are there in June and it just occurred to me to explore beyond the light house.  But on the other hand the lagoons are just about perfect. By the way john Gw have you ever thought of standing for mayor of el Cotillo, I would vote for you. You are my main source of Furte info on this site.

Re Devman's comment about John's encyclopedic knowledge of Northern Feurteventura. I too have been scouring John's posts for info as my wife and I will be going to Infiniti in September.

John, do you have the time to put together a small travellers'-guide to Corralejo and El Cotillo? A condensed version of all the useful information you have posted would serve a lot of visitors well I think. recommendations on where the best beaches are to be found, good restaurants, etc etc. It would make a very handy 'sticky' at the top of this section.

I'm sure the hotels can advise, but John's perspective seems to be pretty much spot on for us naturist travellers.

El Cotillo cycle hire is from about 10 euros a day from the cycle and surf board hire shop opposite the soccer ground.
