Hi all my wife and i went to Slapton today (clothed) to familiarise our selves with the place,we parked in the Strete gate carp park facing the sea walked to the left(towards Dartmouth) we just wondered where the naturist  part of the beach is?
Lovely wide open views up and down the beach sea was as calm as a mill pond pity it was cloudy and not very warm roll on summer! ;D

Hi Inde

The naturist part used to be Pilchard's Cove but a landslide stopped that. If you walked to the left from Strete Gate, the naturist part, at least in good weather, usually starts anywhere after the winding gear you may have seen on the path, no more than 100m from the car park.

Never had any problems at Slapton, unless you walk all the way to the far end where people looking for 'extra' congregate, oh, and sometimes a pleasure boat comes close inshore so the passengers can have a look at the weird naturists.

Thanks Dave some one else mentioned the winding gear but didnt see any?
So basically out of the car park and  turn left any where after about 100 m.
I think i will be going further down i think just enough away from the car park area.
Thanks
Chris

easiest way for this is go past the toilets and follow the path left. keep going untill the path ends and then find a comfy spot!

Can remember going there years ago, difficult to walk on the very fine shingle.
Our dog did not like the beach unless we tied a couple of pairs of socks on her feet.

Well rayb, I guess it's the dogs choice to be naturist or not....

And yes Chris, walk towards Dartmouth, the scrub lessens as you go East but the best of the beach (shingle) is always near the sea. It can get a bit breezy at Slapton so many people take a windbreak or beach shelter. There is a decent naturist/textile campsite (Manor Farm) just up the road but being Devonian I suppose it's only a day trip for you...wish I was so lucky!
