Hy, i could possibly be interested. How do naked walks work? Is it allowed? Are there naturist areas that you go walking in? Keen to find out, and hope to hear from you soon.

It's allowed because being naked is not illegal (see plenty of other discussions on this topic here and elsewhere). Aside from beaches there are no "naturist areas" for walking (or anything else specifically naturist), just get out there and do it - again, plenty of posts and discussions on here on getting out and about, or there's always the SOC walks.

But to get real, we all know that walking around naked is risking confrontations and calls to the police (at least, that's what we fear, whether it happens is another matter). At the same time, you only need to follow a country footpath to realise that few people walk more than 20 paces from their cars, and it's very easy to have the entire British countryside to yourself.

Gloucestershire has the Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds as obvious countryside venues - if you're specially concerned about avoiding people steer clear of the obvious tourist/visitor destinations and you'll think you're the only person left on the planet.

I was out at the weekend walking over a part of the Severn valley (nice and flat) and aside from passing through a couple of villages and crossing a couple of roads, saw only one other walker the whole day.

Hi When I have stayed at the campsite at Christcurch nr Coleford in FoD I have had a few naked walks in the woods there, just me and the dog and she's naked all the time, I have had to be careful and have a pair of shorts to put on quickly but so far I have not been caught out!! it can be really lovely but the brambles can be a problem :-/ luckily only on my legs so far 🙂 Pete

Not sure if anyone can get the nude walks off the ground,but I came across a posting on the web for someone trying to get a clothing optional sauna night down the Leisure Centre in Cheltenham,put in naturist sauna cheltenham and im sure you will find the link...he needs support.

being from gloucestershire my self i am very intrested in joining you and others from the glos area i would also like some help knowing where is a safe area to be walking naked in gloucestershire

I think it's a bit of a misconception that there are such things as 'safe' areas in Gloucs or elsewhere. However, as someone who's done quite a bit of walking in the Dean I can say that there aren't that many people around once you venture beyond the honeypots. However, there are quite a few cyclists - in fact lots, sometimes including me, at weekends and on bank holidays, so it really is best to stick to footpaths whether you're clothed or not.

I'm not going to offer myself as a potential organiser, though, as I've got too much on at the moment.

Ive done several walks around the FoD. Normaly I use the old rail tracks around Lydbrook to Lydney especially around Speculation. You also have Cannop Ponds for a quick dip. Just use mid week and watch out for the annoying trail bike twits in lycra. My dogs are very good at giving advanced notice. May hill during mid week is a good place when its warm. The Severn walk from Lydney going north is also very isolated once you leave Lydney-mid week. My favorite is the Frampton loop on the other side of the river. Once you get to the river bank at Wick get stripped and you've plenty of open walking with quick hidey holes. (Just dont be tempted to jump in the river-I know it very well but it can be very dangerous) I also like the old log ponds on the other side of the canal by the old severn bridge at Sharpness. You have to swim across the canal to get thro the reed beds and then explore the old barges.

Thank you very much pete thats just the information i have been after i do know some of the places you talk of and i am off work all week so may give one of them a try, lol i know the weather is not so good but i can say i am not just a fair weather person

Just for the record - there are bye-laws forbidding swimming in the G&S canal, and all other canals come to that.
Not that they ever stopped it from happening.
