We've to go to a wedding on the Amalfi Coast, Italy  in late summer. We're thinking of going over early for a few extra days. Does anyone here know if there are any nude beaches on the Amalfi Coast?
The interweb doesn't hold much clue, there must be though there's miles of coast line over there and lovely weather.
Any info would be much appreciated! cheers

We went to Sorrento a couple of years ago. The local tourist office told me that there were some quiet spots on Capri where people sometimes go nude but I did not get the opportunity to visit the island. However, I did discover a naturist "beach" just south of town. I put beach in inverted commas because it is really flat volcanic rock ledges, a camping mat would be a good idea. I do not know the legal status of the area but the words "naturista solo" were painted on the rocks and there were a few (very few) naked bodies around, mostly in hollows in the rocks.

The only sensible way to approach the area was down the lane from the general store at the southern end of the town. The shop is where the orange town bus turns around to head back into town. At the bottom of the lane there is a sweet little circular cove with an arch through the cliffs into the sea. I stripped off here and swam out through the arch and had a great hour or so undisturbed on my first day but later attempts to swim there were thwarted by the presence of families. However if you continue along the path heading south you will reach the rocky ledges and the painted sign.

Hope that helps,

Ian.

Many of the beaches around that area are only accessible by boat.

On our visits to Positano, we used to hire a boat and find our own way to them.  On our first outing, we noticed many coves with people nude on them, then saw some being collected by local boatmen, so there are 2 ways you can do this.  Hire your own boat and find your way, or rent-chap-with-a-boat to deliver and collect you.

The other way is to just stay nude aboard the boat that you hire and use the swimming platform.

Not too keen on Amalfi itself, but the general area is stunning.  Make sure you visit Ravello.

Enjoy, you're making me envious.

thanks for the tips guys!
Good to know that there are nude corners there even if they're difficult to get to.

i wonder about the far end of some of the long beaches if that would be ok. otherwise maybe getting a boat man to drop us might be the best option to those coves.

not sure where we're going to stay yet so it's all up in the air at the moment.

Just to follow up folks.
We didn't find any naturist spots in the part of Amalfi Coast we were (Maoiri). I asked in the tourist office if there were any nude beaches and the woman was shocked and told me " No, not in Italy"! well not in that area of Italy anyway as far as could see.

well still had a nice holiday lovely swimming though it'd have been nicer au natural.
