When in MArch?

We have not fixed up our annual trip out there yet and might be able to fit the dates in.

We are a happily married family couple with lots of things going on in our lives. We both enjoy naturism but my wife likes the temperatures to be more comfortable than me which restricts UK action

Hi

Excuse my ignorance, but can anyone turn up at Charco and wander around even if you have not got accommodation there, i.e. as day visitors?

I ask because my wife and I are going to Lanzarote in June.  We are staying in Playa Blanca in the south of the island, but considering a day trip to Charco as it sounds so good.

Is there a public parking area in or close to the village?

The answer is yes to both questions, you can walk around ok and there is limited parking on the road near the entrance. Mind you, i was there along time ago!

When I was there about ten years back it was just an ordinary village with the usual village street parking and no access restrictions for anybody.
In fact one of the restaurants at that time (the one by the public seawater pool) was so good that textiles used to come for Sunday lunch.

That sounds like the Romantica restaurant John, unfortunately that closed many years ago , and possibly may not ever re-open .As a day visitor though, you have no problem at Charco del Palo, it is possible to park at the shops and walk down to the sea and the cliffs , but turn right when walking and it will bring you to a sea pool , and lots of areas for sunbathing.

That's the one, Dick.
It had a waiter who played the mandolin and was the spitten image of the guv'nor of the Winchester Club in Minder.

Thanks for info, guys.  Will try it and let you know how we get on.

Incidentally, I did have a quick look on Google Street View, and there does look to be plenty of parking down near the beaches and other places.

Indeed, the place looked nearly deserted, no-one about on the roads or even walking.  Maybe the Google car visited during siesta time!

Google had to visit when all was quiet - you can't possibly show naked people walking about on the Internet, can you?

As has been said there are lots of parking options many on the front line so do not be discouraged.

Life is slow in Charco, thats why people go there, and it is not unusual to have few or no people on the streets as they are all enjoying the rays.

If you book via Obana they have their own "private" pools, suana and coffee shop all of which are excellent.

If not dont worry, there is plenty of other options..

I have recently come back from Lanzarote. I visited Charco del Palo for a day but I was disappointed. I do like a nice beach and I knew there was none at Charco del Palo but there were two sea pools to use. I did use the pool towards the north end of the resort and though it was nice to swim with some fish that were unable to escape back to the sea, the condition of the pool and that of the surrounding area was very poorly presented and maintained. The pool had rather a lot of algae and is slippery at the entrance, although there is a handrail to use. The pathway down to, and around the pool is in poor condition with parts collapsed down to, and in some cases, into the pool. The sunbathing area next to the pool has been built very rough – and I don't mean just a little rough, I mean with small stones sticking up like the concrete was poured then sharp stones thrown on top. There are sandy areas on the upper levels but some of this has disappeared leaving gaping holes. I am surprised there has been no attempt to repair any of these areas. There weren't many people using the pool or sunbathing area – probably because of the state of it.
I did take a stroll along the coast but I did not find it inspiring. The other pool looks better but was not very deep for swimming.
I would not recommend CdP. I best spot I found on Lazarote was the soft sandy beaches near to Orzola where there are lagoons to swim in.

The sea pool south of Charco del Palo , is just that , it fills or empties with the tide. If you got there at high tide , you'd find it more than ample for swimming.
