It would appear that there is a major new sea defence thing going on at the moment. It started up at Tetney and is going right down the Lincolnshire coast. I am hoping it will have moved off before springtime arrives so I can get down there and enjoy.

Hi, not been on here for ages.The flood defence works has nearley finished i was last there mid jan and the heavey machines had gone,it looked like they had to still level off the top of the bank and take the fencing down.Last year it was frustrating having to get around the fencing,but there was only 2 times i didnt manage it.Even then i still got some just set up at the bottom of the bank half way  along from the tetney lock side,only saw 2 poeople put my shorts back on before they got near me.   

I remember a few years back at Horseshoe Point being stripped off and sunbathing laid out on the sand and this couple out walking mid week just sauntered up to me and started having a chat. They didn't seem to care one bit that I had no clothes on. It is so nice to meet people like that who just don't care one way or the other. Had I known they were there I would have put a pair of shorts on but I was half asleep at the time.

I went on sunday just to see what was happening, its still the same and nothing more has been done. Part of the fence has been bent and pushed to the floor and the top of the bank still neads to be graded off.It wasnt warm enough to strip off, it was a nice day the wind was a bit cool. 

We tried Theddlethorpe and North Coates last year. We liked Theddlethorpe but you have to be aware of regular beach users. We took a breaker and to be honest the weather was very hit and miss but it's a great place - very big!

We did a reckie of North Coates early last year and found it quite depressing. The instructions we were given for where we were supposed to go took us right out into an area with a lot of rubbish and not a lot of cover. How is the work affecting the area? We'd give it another go this year if it has improved, otherwise we'll stick to Theddlethorpe and go further afield to Holkham which gets top marks for us as there's no hiding from regular beach users!

Theddlethorpe gets my vote every time to be honest. I love the dunes and the whole atmosphere of the place and I adore being there on hot summer days. North Cotes is OK but you are right, the beach can get a bit messy at times. I love them both but for different reasons.

Theddlethorpe is too fare for me on my bike,North cotes takes me about 45 min. So its North cotes for me

North Cotes is much more remote than Theddlethorpe with far fewer beach users and those who turn up generally don't walk to the area that we use as it is too far for their little dogs legs to wander.

Yes your wright there and with the works last year/this year some of the dog walkers might have found a new faverate place.Haveing said that they often walk as fare as the island and round it then they have gone again.

I think we'd be willing to give North Coates another go if someone can tell me it's improved and the sea defences haven't made things worse. Distance wise there's not much in it for us as we have to drive from Lincoln anyway.

You should give it another try, they havent finished the food defence just yet.
When they have taken the fences down i will put it on here.
Last year when you tried as you got in the car park did you head north along the beach or on the top of the bank,if you was on the bank you would have reached some pools,just go past them then there is a path to the beach

I can't clearly remember. It was about this time last year we checked it out and we seemed to walk for miles. I think we turned left on the beach and kept going. We went right the way around the beach with a bank / dunes on our left.

Is it possible to use google earth to get your bearings, if indicated earlier in this thread the naturist spot is adjacent to the airfield then surely it can't be too hard to find.
