The area I use is on the beach just along the rear of the old airfield. It is best to walk along the banking NORTH towards the old airfield and then as said, there is a small pathway that turns to the right and towards some small pools in the dunes. This whole area is so nice on a hot summers day when the sand is so hot you can barely walk on it. I love this place with a book and a set of headphones and some glorious music. I can't wait.
Hmm. Okay. We may have not had great directions then. If anyone can send me an exact pinpoint on google maps where we need to be we're willing to give it another go if we were wrong the first time .

North cotes is definitely on my to do list in spring . It will be a monster bike ride from Hull but I like the sound of the area. Hope the coastal works finished by then

Great - thanks for that! I don't think we were that far off. Will try again this year if the weather ever improves! :O
Yeah I am truly hoping that all of the new defence work is finished by the time spring gets here. I have ten days off work at the end of March and although it may well be a bit chilly, I hope to visit my alltime favourite place having lived so far away for seven years. Its really nice to be back in Lincolnshire again.
Well we went to visit Horseshoe Point today to see how the sea defence work is progressing. It appears that everyone has gone home and left the place deserted with all of the metal fences still in place. Someone has moved the fencing so as to make the place reachable and it was a pleasant walk with quite a few people there but the sea defence work is no nearer to completion than it was before Christmas of last year and it looks as though there will be no more work done. Also, I thought that this work was heading down the coast but it would appear not. The work stops at the point and goes no further. I shall be visiting again in a month or so and spending some quality time there.
So you can get to the dunes now. Yes the work starts level with the old boundry of the old airfield, i think they have still got to add some height to the bank top in places. From there it goes to donna nook adding height to the bank and widening the ditch at the back. When you get to grainthorp outflow about 100 meters or so after that they plan to breach the bank to let the sea into the flood area they are creating and when you get to donna nook they are moveing the car park and the old one is being put back to sand dunes again. Then at saltfleet haven they are biulding the wall on the bank of the river heigher all the way to the coast were it meets the dunes and them dunes run all the way back to donna nook. I think they are haveing trouble with plans at grainthorpe they wanted the path diverted all the way round this new food area but the council want them to put a bridge over were they open the sea wall. I think thats whats going on.
