Blimey Clive, didn't know you were a crapaud!!! I lived in Guernsey for a while so I'm an honorary Donkey. I believe Jersey and the rest of the islands were part of France at one time, there's still a granite ridge under the sea that rises up to become Alderney.

Off to Cornwall tomorrow to visit with friends. Maybe no beach going but the hot tub will be in use.

I'm not so sure that it was once part of France! please don't mention that to my wife and kids if you ever meet them, they take the mick out of me as it is saying that I'm french

Nudity only becomes an issue if an issue is made of it

The end of Perranporth is naturist.  We will be there in July with a group of BN nutters at Nudefest.

We used to live in Cornwall (14yrs), and when we first moved to St. Austell we were able to get on a small train down to the Coliseum and then walk over the bridge to the beach.

Carlyon Bay was then the only official naturist beach in Cornwall and I worked with local people from my former club to keep the beach. On two occasions it was taken away from naturist use, and twice working with management and my then title of British Naturism PRO for C&D, and got it returned to naturist use. It was severe inappropriate behaviour by the gays, and also those who insisted of having 3somes or offering invitations to other so called naturists.

The attitude was disgusting and a woman with young family rightly complained bitterly after having words with these people and got a short sharp reply to the effect of - "if you don't like it, get lost and take your family".

So then the fight was on again and this time it was lost as new owners called Ampersand came in and claimed the rights to build over 200 holidays chalets and refused to allow any access whatsoever to the naturist beach. Some fitr people got to the beach from Par side....... Thereafter for personal reasons I had nothing further to do with any part of local naturists, but always did my best.

Anyone in Cornwall tell me please the latest with the Coliseum land and the beach out of curiosity?

We opened our house up as naturist B&B - we could have done with a wonderful site like this or knowledge about it!! Now we live in Spain.

we havent been down there for a couple of years now, we loved it as our children were growing up and visited most weekends.
last time we were there it was one huge building site, with about 6ft of beach to walk on accross the front of huge metal fences. such a shame

Thank you very much indeed for the link and information on the beach....... what an absolute foul up of unmistakable greed. The companies involved from the start should be forced to return the beach to its natural glory.

The "wall" looks hideous and previous storms when we lived there literally "drowned"  the whole of the coliseum..... one storm took water way over the top of the public toilets of the coliseum and left it a mess....... local kids including my own would go to "Gossips" nightclub there given local name of "Gussets" !!

Try Downderry beach. The council sort of recognise it by putting a sign up asking naturists to keep up the far end of beach away from the school. You could get cut off during high tide but you can get up the cliff. Access is normally up the beach a 5min walk.

You can now use part of the far end as some of the fencing has been taken down.  Now of course it's overgrown.  It used to be nice to stroll around behind the beach on the few paths and grab a bit of shade.  But it is back in use although a few naked people around most were covered.

Today I got to Pednevounder, absolutely fantastic.
Walk down, well goat-like scramble, but when down on the beach  it was so good. Sun took haalf an hour to appear fully, and a slight shower of rain, but after that it was wonderful. Water a little cool, and dumping waves at high tide, caused by a bar a little way out, which leaves a small lagoon when tide goes out.
Plenty of Naturists of all ages, and textiles unworried by our presence.
Certainly worth a visit.
Don

Getting to the beach is a bit of a mission, but well worth the efforts!!
