I enjoy wild swimming and even enjoy the freezing water, I have the wild swimming book but wondered if there were any guides as to where you can swim wild and nude?

You could try
http://www.swimming-holes-wales.org.uk/

Which is a guide to the wild swimming sites of Wales some of which are quiet near to Shropshire
A favourite of mine is the River Severn at Abermule.

You swim naked at Abermule?!?!? I live about 3 miles from there, where abouts in Abermule?

Nudity only becomes an issue if an issue is made of it

In the river there is a gravel beach about 100M upstream of the iron bridge.
I tend to swim there  if I am passing through on the A483

If there's no one around, then no need for clothes when swimming outdoors!

I know it's probably against the law, but there must be plenty of quiet stretches of canal in your part of the country. Twilight is a great time for naked swimming, or in my case early morning.

Swimming in canals is definitely illegal - the original canal companies had it in their bye-laws and it has been continued and extended.

Not only is it illegal, it is probably very stupid too!  Canals are not free flowing like rivers and therefore are more likely to contain "dirty water".  Additionally, due to the construction techniques used in the 18th and 19th century, most of the canals in England have lots of mud on the bottom, particularly near the banks where dredging doesn't take place.  It would be very easy to get stuck in the mud and be unable to scramble up the bank again, particularly if you are alone.

Swimming in the canals?

When I had visitors on my boat I always said to them that if they ever fell in to keep their mouths shut!  The water in most of the canals I cruised on was not that inviting.

I know of a small deep section of a local river, but can only go there very early before any walkers etc.

Here's the link to the Outdoor Swimming Society's Wild Swim Map.

I would imagine there are quite a large proportion that could be skinny dipped.

Most of our local OSS members skinny dip, even every month through the winter.

Wouldn't catch me doing that!  😀

Looking forward so some wild skinny dipping in the mountains of Corsica next week, although since it's been a very late spring, there may be a lot of freezing meltwater!  Weather's looking good though, I'll post some pics if I get any decent ones.
