Hi - usual sort of question...has anyone stayed at Terme d'Astor naturist campsite and can give any views/feedback. It looks nice and tranquil on the website.
It's run by a Dutch couple and most feedback in their guest book is in Dutch - not a problem for us although we speak no Dutch, their English is usually good (although we do prefer to try our French out a bit).
Any info on the campsite and also the surrounding area as we like to explore - looking to go mid September.
Thanks

We stayed at Terme d'Astor for a few days with our camper in September 2011. The young Dutch couple running the place were delightful. Oh, and completely fluent in English, as you suggested. I believe it was the parents of one of them (not sure if his or hers) that started the site many years ago. But it was clear to us that there had been a lot of recent investment. Thought the pool and surrounding terrace were lovely - good quality sunbeds etc.
The restaurant also looked very smart, although we didn't eat there during our visit.
The facilities - toilets, showers, etc were very good, as usual on Dutch-run sites.
One thing we were particularly impressed by was FREE site-wide wi-fi, if I remember correctly.
Some of the ground is sloping and some of the lower pitches can be a tad shaded at times. We parked-up on a higher part of the site and had plenty of sunshine.
It's obviously in a rural location, but the towns and villages in the wider vicinity are attractive.
Oh and we were able to use our ACSI discount card, so I think the cost was €15 or €16 euro a night, inc hook-up.

We stayed there for ten days, a couple of years ago, and loved it. It's described very well in the above post, and though it seems to have a mainly Dutch clientele we were made very welcome, and joined in a Dutch table at the communal 'Moules/Frites' night. The site is rural and up a long rather narrow drive, and the pitches on meadows either in the open, or against the trees. There are short walks through the woodland, and if you go into the far prairie area the toilet block is lovely with fantastic powerful hot showers.
The pool area is a delight, and the site even has a small shop with essentials, including bread and milk. Belves is the nearest small town, but there are plenty of others nearby, and all the tourist sights of the Dordogne are not far away.
A delightful place for a holiday, and as said the site takes the ACSI Card (www.campingcard.co.uk) meaning a pitch, two adults, car and caravan, awning, and electricity, will cost just 16 euros after the 17th August. We may well be there again later this season!

Glad to hear you liked the site as well Veronica! And I agree with your observations too.
