I was only 16 and on a school trip to the island of Rab in Yugoslavia (now Croatia) when a group of us all went skinny dipping. The feeling of freedom was great - and it just felt right. Ever since then I've always felt that wearing a costume when swimming makes about as much sense as wearing your socks in the shower.

I went to some baths over the weekend and had to wear a cossie. It felt awful! I was amazed too at the number of long legged trunks and full costumes - for boys. It must have been no better than swimming after falling in fully clothed.

The changing rooms were mixed and all cubicles and the showers, again mixed right at the entrance to the pool. No chance of a proper wash there.

One day people may see sense but at the moment the pigs are airborne

I kind of grew up on Studland beach so age-wise would still have been in nappies in the earliest years.

Maybe that's a lucky thing, to be introduced to naturism say at 3yo and not really be able to form opinions about being clothed or unclothed?

So it's all I have ever known and probably the reason I have a dim view of textile folk!

These are my opinions. If you don't like them, I have others.

Which pool was that? These changing villages are getting too commonplace so that you cannot have a nude shower after swimming. I expect the ladies may feel the same.

I think the speedo days are over. Nowadays the shorts are like trousers and for a day on the beach, children are not getting the benefit of the fresh air and sun. I think there are two reasons for the modern day dress. Boys are conscious of their bulges showing in briefs or swimming trunks and so wear shorts and in turn, parents will bow to this fashion that the retail stores believe is what the public want and should be the fashion.

That reminds me: I was inspired by a sign that I saw in a swimming pool in Copenhagen, Denmark; and made a similar sign (see attachment). You can print out some copies and put them up wherever you go for a swim.  🙂

Yes, that is inspiring Katya (I've seen the picture now) and it ought to maybe be the case everywhere, no matter what country you are in. But I think the pool staff would quickly notice the new signs!
