Weston Mouth foreshore stretches east to Branscombe so it should be theoretically possible to approach it from the latter but you need to be very careful regarding the tides and cliff stability, not heard of a naturist beach here distinct from Weston.

Foreshore east of Axmouth is an area popular with fossil hunters and features potentially unstable cliffs so seems unpromising from a nude point of view. As above I've not heard of a nude beach here but stand to be corrected. Cheers

I have seen reports of some naturist use of the beach east of Axmouth, by folk living local to the area. We haven't been though.

I stand to correct myself having just checked out the map link provided by Davie in his 'Map of clothes optional beaches' thread which shows a beach underneath Haven Cliff (Sparrowbush Ledge) about half to three quarters of a mile east of the River Axe estuary has been in use until at least 2010 by naturists. Checked out the relevant OS gridsquare SY 2689 on geograph.org.uk and it has one decent pic. of this beach but also quite a few of the far eastern end known as Bindon Cliffs adjacent to Culverhole Point which suffers from cliff instability which is a feature of this stretch of coast so any member thinking of using this beach needs to be aware of this and possibly obtain local advice about this location.

As far I can ascertain this beach can only be accessed by walking along the foreshore from the mouth of the Axe - there is no connection with the clifftop coastpath in this area so it may be wise to seek local tidal advice as well.

Thanks Ian but is the tide an issue either for beach near Axmouth or walking from Weston to Branscombe ?

No problem with tide walking from Weston to Branscombe just be aware of the cliffs as they are prone to slippage ,also wear strongish footwear as beach is all pebbles. Not sure about Axmouth never been at high tide ,reported that you can walk to Lyme Regis along beach but came with warning to check tide times hope this helps Ian

Yes can vouch for the need for strong footwear from my visit to Weston some years back, those stones can be hard work if you're used to the Golden Coast beaches near me - i.e Saunton.

Hi all just a little up date we went to Axmouth beach east of the harbour
and it is a easy walk (mostly flat) pebble beach and whilst we were the only for a walk  and  a look for future visits there were a few people in the distance and wouldnt thought you would be bothered by many walkers so when we spend a day there i will report back.
Regards
Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for the feedback. Be interested to know how far you need to walk in order to strip-off, and any other observations.

Hi Mike  i would say you wouldn't have to walk that far about half a mile but the further you walk the less the people you would see, and looks like you could walk a long way if fit enough as it is hard walking on pebbles even if its flat, also like most naturist beaches you aren't over looked from the cliffs and it has a lovely open out look towards Beer beach/Seaton  just remember not sit too close the cliffs as there are cliff falls!
There is a little harbour  cafe selling teas and snacks etc which looked nice
also just down the road (walking distance) from where we parked the car is a brand new Tesco so you can get all your needs for the beach if required.
Parking for the beach is a bit of a down side,if you look on Google earth you will see the layout we were able to park off road free of charge just by the bridge on the road from Seaton to Musbury in a little layby there is also parking for 5 cars on the road to the harbour. You will never have a problem to park somewhere nearby as you you have a few options depending on how far you want to walk or pay as you can park on the sea front on Seaton pay and display etc.You can't park in the sailing club carpark next to the bridge/sea front as its member only.

Excellent, thanks! Really handy and helpful information.

Hope we might get an opportunity to give it a try this summer.

Appreciate you taking the time and trouble to post the details.

You are not all that far from Budleigh and that is easy walking distance and official. I know the stones can be a pain though

Ive gone naked at both Branscombe and Axemouth (where my ex girlfiend lives) Both beaches are very quiet, in fact each time we had them to ourselves, which was rather special. At Branscombe a Peragrine Falcon took out a gull very close to us, which was pretty spectacular !
