I'm a very long time nudist, been to many nudist beaches and clubs. I've always quite fancied the idea of camp d'agde living clothes free through the entire village. So I checked out some hotels and came across this one ...

and on trip adviser
It was the second on the web site, and apparently actively encourages full sex around the pool and the waiters will even bring you drinks during your activities, i.e. it is a swingers hotel, but a nudist swingers hotel.
Now I'm sure we do all have sex, and probably seen people getting rather 'romantic' on nude beaches and possible come across certain activities in the dunes.
The male voyeur in me thinks hey good for them, but the nudist part of me (the much bigger part of me) thinks this is too far and naturally is not permissible in any true nudist venue; but most such venues are for all ages and not just over 18s.
I do think such activities should be restricted to certain places and to be fair they don't make it a secret, but am I a prude ? or is public sex just part of life - after all many people think being naked in public is strange, and we think they are prudes!
No I don't believe so. I was thinking of planning a trip there until I read bit was for swingers also. The whole point of naturism is to be free of encumbrances and the stress of watching others having sex whilst you are there to relax is not what I want.
Do what you say you are going to do.
We have not been to Cap D'agde for some years but my recollection is that the swinging scene and venues are well defined and easy to avoid without much effort. Live and let live!
swingers sex parties and naturism are a million miles apart and should be kept that way

Yes I agree live and let live.
Basically if you want to find it you can, if you don't want to see anything you can also do that.
The place is about freedom and that means choice everyone has the choice but as bordercastle says the areas are defined including the beach.
Swingers are entitled to places to enjoy their sort of holidays just as we are to naturist holidays. It seems to me that its clearly mentioned that there are swinging activities so if that not what you want its easy to avoid. Like bordercastle said 'live and let live'

Having been to Cap D'Agde several times, we found it fine. Yes, there is stuff going on that is a million miles away from what we would do, but as has been said it was in specific areas if I remember correctly.
There is also a well defined section of beach where anything goes, but it is well away from the genuine naturist area. It was easy to stay away from such things.
If naturists are overly critical and even prudish about other minority groups we cannot be too surprised about people who dislike naturism surely. I agree let's live and let live. The worst thing to do is to actively seek out things we don't like just so we can criticise them.
Agree with the others - live and let live. There is a time and place for everything if it is what you want.

Never been there ,don't know if i ever will.I think nearly all naturists know what goes on there. If you don't like the sound of it don't go there. There are many many other places to go where there is just a good naturist attitude .
Reading some of the comments above suprises me TBH. We are on a naturists site here, and we must all know that when people take off their clothes and behave in an unacceptable way for a family type environment, it will reflect on all of us.
Maybe I'm a prude, or perhaps I just know how to behave in public.

Hopefully this will help Anthony.
As previously posted any activities are in defined areas.
As a naturist I'm sure you will be aware of defined areas of beaches where nude sunbathing is permitted, here and abroad.
Either next to a textile beach or some distance away.
Does that mean that the people on the textile beach will be looking on naturists with disgust or as they know it is there but choose not to go there that they are fine with that set up?
At Benar beach campsite there is a designated nude section.
People in the rest of the campsite know it is there but it does not intrude on them unless they decide to go looking beyond the walled section.
Cap D'Agde tends to get a bad press and all too often it is the Mary Whitehouse experience.
Or should that be no experience of the place as never actually been.
The press has made a meal out of any negative tales they can there and at beaches here, so only way to find out is to go and see what the place is like for yourself.

The Babylone hotel has been operational for quite some time, and we are all aware of what a large part of the Cap caters for these days, unfortunately or not depending on your point of view. The Cap makes a thin pretence of still being a naturist resort, and to some degree it is but only to a small degree. I think the Cap sold out to the libertines end of the market some time ago, as from what I could see and understand of seeing it in documentaries and H and E through the 80s it was a straightforward family naturist resort. As to exactly why it sold out, we can conjecture. My theory is that possibly the Cap got a bit old hat, the accommodation too basic for the more discerning naturists, and over priced for what it was. Plus increased competition and better value from newer naturist resorts elsewhere in Europe with less concrete. Less appeal for families, hence more adult couples, and a change of emphasis.
Despite some commentators protests in H and E about how it is still great for all age groups, from what I have read (yes, I can't speak from experience) it is not somewhere I would choose to take a child as the atmosphere at least in the evening seems to be sexually charged coupled with sexy outfits, and it isn't somewhere I'd find comfortable myself, more tiresome and tedious. I wouldn't be offended, but I'd just find it boring and perhaps, faintly ridiculous. Also, my own pysche would feel a bit institutionalised there, no matter how big it is, and would make a break for the outside believe it or not. My tastes are more for the undeveloped and the natural world outside, although I wouldn't turn down a chance of a visit there just for a few days to satisfy some curiosity.
It would be interesting if a scientific survey could ever be done of those staying at Cap to ask if they had also stayed at other naturist resorts. Obviously many will have done, as evidenced from posts here, and just go for a holiday in the sun, and ignore the other facilities. It is interesting to me because thinking about the other resorts in France and specifically the France 4 Naturisme, they are very family oriented and make a big play of them being so, as of course naturism is in France far more than the UK. The brochure I possess for F4N has photos that I suspect would probably not get published in H and E. What I do not know is what the majority nationality visiting Cap is, whether it is French or whether it is a mix.

The town of Agde has allowed all sorts of shops, restaurants and night-clubs, to open in the naturist quarter (which is not a private resort, but part of the town).
This has over the years become big business, and now the shop-owners make a lot of money from the swingers, their lobby is a power to be reckoned with and, if I understand rightly, one to which the city authorities find it difficult to say no.
In other words, things are bound to get worse before they get better (if ever they do).
"What I do not know is what the majority nationality visiting Cap is, whether it is French or whether it is a mix."
From what I have heard, the visitors come from all over Europe, but the majority are French. There also seems to be a large number of Italians (which is not usual in French naturist resorts, apart from Corsica).
Many thanks Jacques for those replies. I had forgotten that Cap is not really a resort in the conventionally understood naturist sense, therefore I suppose the ethos has gone in the direction of the money. Sad, but maybe inevitable.
That's interesting on the Italians! Not really something I had thought about. Naturally have heard many who go in the other direction while in Croatia but hadn't realised that they might be at Cap in any great number, though I am not surprised they go to Corsica, being a more or less shared culture.
