A friend of mine has accidentally deleted all the pictures from a new camera .
There appears a number of programs that can be used to undelete them on an SD card. Has anyone got any experience of them and could suggest which one to use.
Always a bit wary of free software.

The only recovery software I have used i got when I purchased a sandisk extreme sd card. It was very easy to use and worked very well it's called rescue pro, just had a quick look at the website you can download it but I think you have to buy a memory card.

Photoreceptor is well known in Linux circles. It is currently at version 6 so development has not stopped. See the photoreceptor wiki for more details. Also available for windows and Mac.

I have used a few different ones all have their merits and faults. I would try more than one especially for precious photos/memories.

There are a number of programs available and quite a few that are free but the important thing is to make sure nothing else is saved to the memory card in the meantime as this will make the chances of recovery diminish very quickly.

This is the one I have been using for several years.  I find it easy to use and it does the job very well.

For Mac OS X I can recommend CardRaider Photo Recovery - £13.99 from the App Store.

Thanks for all the replies.
I have discovered sandisc no longer support rescue pro but can be acquired through another company, ic. Technology but it costs £30.
I will pass the info on.
Thanks again.

I use Recuva too. The "deep search" option can be used to recover files after formatting.
