We had a friend who made a "do it youself " cast of his wife and it looked ok but not great. It also weighed a ton. Any advice would be very welcome

Apparently I fall into categories 1, 2 & 3, and, erm, category 6. The artist I met is a real charmer. I think I’ll pass on getting my vulva cast in isolation, as it’s neither supremely developed or muscular nor unusual or freakish, and therefore too ‘plain’ to be art. I think you're right, it was one of those sex education programmes on Channel 4, showing young people what normal actually is. We have such a prudish outlook on the human body in this country, it's no wonder so many young people don't know what is normal.

Yes, we have had professional casts done of Rosie and have also experimented on friends and family.  Plaster of Paris bandage is what we used to make the moulds.

I would recommend extreme care with plaster of paris as it is exothermic and if not used correctly will 'burn' the skin. Search:-

That's very true, and it should be used with care.  However, it was used to do the casts we had done professionally, and we subsequently used it ourselves.  Vaseline was applied to the skin first, and the bandages applied a thin layer at a time, which did not result in any significant heat build-up.
